Marie Antoinette — Restaurant in Malmö kommun

Had high hopes for dining at this restaurant but left disappointed. Very nice greeting when arriving at the restaurant only to find out that our table has to be cleaned first. Prior to the visit, we both decided on the second of the 2 tasting menus presented on the homepage, only to find out that only the first was available - very strange, why not keep the website updated ? When seated, several excellent meals although not our first choice, in the tasting menu were served but were not presented with any kind of enthusiasm. Was severely disappointed though with the last dish which was too salty and affected the overall impression of the abilities of this establishment. The wine selection for each dish was very good and very good match to the serving. When we had finished, we waiting for a long time to pay only to find out the waitress had left for the night (!) so had to go to the counter, like any fast-food place to pay. I realize this was a friday evening and therefore many people would be dining out, but the noise level was really annoying corresponding to a bar in the city and ruined the atmospheric impression. So first impression was great. Funny and quirky decor and attentive staff. Went here for drinks. Reading the drink menu I thought there were some interesting combinations and when the drinks came they looked great. Its a shame that first impressions sometimes are completely wrong. The quite expensive drinks tasted almost only like juice completely masking any taste or nuances of the different ingredients (and the alcohol). Im not saying Im an expert in cocktails but I have been to several highly rated bars and this was a disappointment (and for that price, a robbery). I may as well have been drinking juice at home and adding some tasteless alcohol for the same experience. We were a couple of people, we order a couple of drinks each so we tasted most of the menu. The staffs attentiveness soon felt like eagerness for us to buy more or get out. Not saying they were rude but a bit intense perhaps (there was empty tables). So yeah, apperently they had a new menu and a perhaps some of the staff were new (they looked young) but wasnt a great experience. Maybe the food is good but Im not in a hurry to revisit. The food was great value, overall I'd give this place a 4/5, but with review inflation it's more of a 5/5. We had the sharing menu. The brioche with roe was great, the fish was slightly overdone, but still decent. The chicken sausage was not that special, needed more flavor. The tartare was delicious. The pork rind was weirdly seasoned, neither me nor my girlfriend was a big fan of the seasoning, but it was still a pretty decent dish overall. The celeriac dish was great, both me and my girlfriend liked it. My girlfriend loved the toffee pie desert, I think it was good as well, but the chocolate sauce served with it was mostly a trick, it overpowered the whole dessert so I'd advise to skip it.
