A Hearty and Satisfying Lunch at The Torso Bistro

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Torso in Västra Hamnen and was thoroughly impressed by their delicious Chicken Cacciatore. This classic French dish was executed to perfection, with tender, juicy chicken pieces simmered in a rich, savory tomato and olive sauce. The balance of flavors was impeccable, with a hint of acidity from the tomatoes and a touch of sweetness from the caramelized vegetables. A French restaurant in Västra hamnen, an area in dire need of places just like these; what could be better? I’ve been yearning to try their Tournedos Rossini for a long time, and I am sad to say it was underwhelming. It was supposed to be cooked medium rare, but was medium almost toward medium well. My friend had the same and his meat was well done. On top of that, it was fried too hard which installed a black burnt crust on the outside. So nowhere near juicy, more dry. The goose liver on top was slimy, watery and pretty tasteless. So was the sauce and potato. For 495 kr you expect more.

The charcuterie platter was decent, but nothing special. Profiteroles was ok, but again, also lacked a bit in taste.

Nice selection of wines by the glass, but don’t expect a half full glass.

After reading several good reviews, we decided to give this restaurant a try for an early dinner while visiting the Västra Hamnen area. It’s very nicely located right beside the Turning Torso, just a short walk from the beach. We took the lovely outdoor seating, and we checked the indoor dining area looked elegant.

For food, my friend ordered the Swedish pork with chimichurri sauce, while I went for the mussels. Both dishes were beautifully presented and tasted excellent.

The only downside was the service. The waiter guy, he seemed a bit uncomfortable when we spoke English instead of Swedish, and there was no smile or warmth in the interaction.

That said, we were very satisfied with the food and the location overall. A lovely spot for a good meal...
