Went to this place 6 years ago and it was so nice. They had like a Japanese hip hop style and the food was amazing. Went there today och the place was totally different and I was so disappointed. We were 6 people and we had to pre-order the food when we booked a table. 5hey even told us that they couldn't serve sushi but we didn't mind. When we came there 4 people got their food at different times and 2 of them didnt get their food until the rest of us had already eaten our orders. Lastly the dessert came. We were interested in "Rare-baked cheesecake with matcha". As you can see, the picture they got on instagram it looks really delicious. We got a burnt cheesecake as you can see in the picture. It tasted like carbon so we told the waiter that the cheesecake was burnt. The waiter went to the kitchen with the cheesecake and came back with the same desserts. He told us "the chef said it's supposed to be burnt. If you want you can discuss it with the chef'. And then the waiter gave us back the burnt cheesecake. I mean, it's not so difficult to say" I'm sorry we burnt the dessert. We can't make a new one right now but can we offer you something else? ". Worst service...
Read moreHaving lived in Japan many years and the fact that BLY claims to be authentic I will therefore review this in comparison with a typical Japanese Ramen not your average Swedish place.
We had the tonkotsu ramen (pork-broth) and while not bad it was a bit of a disspointment. In Japan tonkotsu is a quite thick broth with lots of flavor. Here the broth was thin and quite tasteless (hardly even salty). However, the noodle was well made (and not overcooked) and the three small pieces of pork was tender. In japan a different cut of the pork is usually used (rolled pork-shoulder) for ramen but I have never seen this in Sweden.
We also tried karaage (fried chicken) which was very bland and almost tasteless. In Japan the chicken is usually marinated before quickly fried using egg+potato starch as a coating. Here it was served with a ponzu dipping (which is quite unusual since the karaage chicken is supposed to be eaten crispy - not soggy). The dipping was also quite bland and with amost no yuzu taste (must have been mixed with some stock).
I will not comment on the price since it is more expensive to run a restaurant in Sweden but all in all we probably wont bother...

Server dipped his thumb in my ramen. Extremely disgusting, didn't apologize, get a new one or even acknowledge it in any way. Servers had no clue about the menu or what anything was or meant. They looked like 16 y/o's. I booked a week before with a birthday dessert surprise, but on the day they were out of the dessert I ordered a week beforehand. Servers had no clue about bookings or emails, had me worried because we have specific allergies we emailed about to be sure.
Traditional tonkatsu ramen was boring and flavorless, don't order this! The broth is basically a small pork bouillon cube. Noodles were nice. Toppings were very few. Tho very disgusting to eat Thumb flavored food either way.
vegan noodles had lots of toppings and flavorful broth. The saving grace of this entire review, would have gotten a 1/5 otherwise.
The room is pressurized so that when the door opens and closes you feel it in your ears, like being in an airplane....
