This restaurant labels itself as Indo-Persian whilst most of the menu is Indian, especially during lunch hours. The only Persian dish was kabob koubidé, which itself is quite basic and consists of only 1 skewer (when most Persian restaurant offer two skewers even during lunch hours). The decor is absolutely gorgeous and is more Persian indeed and retelling Nader Shah's invasion of India with old pictographs and paintings. And eventhough Haydeh music was playing in the background and the Afsharid and Qajar princes mustaches were on display all over the wall, I opted for the Indian Palak lamb dish. Although it is difficult for Indian cuisine to be disappointing, this time, it happened. The portion was ridiculously small, having a spoon or two of Persian saffron rice and 3,5 minuscule pieces of lamb in a palak stew that was unusually immersed in tomato sauce. Instead of a salad bar, which is common in every lunch hour restaurants, we got a tiny cup of Persian yogurt mast-khiar and one small slice of watermelon. That was far from generous... One star is for the service and the decor. Otherwise, I would neither come back nor recommend this place....
Read moreThis Persian restaurant is the best that I have ever tried outside Iran. In fact it can be one of the best inside Iran 😁 wonderful food.. all of them. The lamb ribs (Shishlik) was cooked to perfection. Perfect meat, not burnt and very juicy meat. Kubideh was so delicately done and mouth watering. The Barg was again, juicy on the inside and exactly the right amount of crust on the outisde. Djoojeh kabab was made from filet and was so juicy and so succulent that I have rarely had something similar. We had the delux sultani which basically had all the kebabs that I just described and it came with an assortment of rices all coocked to perfection 😁😁 Loved every part of it 😁 this is a 5+ restaurant. Great vibes, absolutely great people worked there. Would go there every time that I will visit Stockholm...
Read moreIt was my first time at Restaurant Diwan, and everything was excellent. The staff were friendly and explained the menu clearly. I recommend reserving a table in advance, although in summer you can also sit outside.
As a starter, we had Kashk-e Bademjan with fresh bread. I really recommend trying it! We ordered “White and Black” (one chicken skewer and one koobideh) and Sultani (one koobideh and one barg skewer). All were delicious, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. The Dough (yogurt drink) was also great. They also served Shirazi salad and yogurt with cucumber with the meal.
The atmosphere was beautiful, with soft Iranian instrumental music in the background. The lighting could be a bit brighter, but that’s a small thing.
Overall, a great experience. I will...
