We stayed at Scandic Park Hotel in Stockholm for the recent marathon. We arrived after midnight – check-in was quick, took a shower, and immediately noticed a problem. One of the two bath towels was visibly dirty. I called the reception to ask for a clean one, and was told that, due to safety reasons and because staff cannot leave the front desk at night, I would have to come down and pick it up myself – even though I was in pajamas and my partner was still in the shower. In the end, we had to share the clean towel.
Later, as we got into bed, I noticed a stain on the sheets. I called reception again to inform them, but once more they said they couldn’t send anyone up or replace the bedding due to night-time staffing limitations. It was already 1 AM, and we had unpacked everything, so we decided not to change room. I ended up sleeping with a hand towel over the stained area.
The room was cleaned the next day, which we appreciated. However, I find it hard to understand that for a 4-night stay (costing €1,236), the hotel’s policy meant the bed wasn’t even made unless specifically requested. I understand the idea of reducing unnecessary cleaning, but at this price point and in a 4-star hotel, some basic daily service should be standard.
The location is excellent, and the hotel itself is nice, but these details left me very disappointed. I travel often and have stayed in many similar hotels – I’ve never experienced anything quite like this. It’s also unfortunate that hotel management never reached out to...

Upon check-in, I was given no information and did not feel welcomed. The two receptionists on duty seemed indifferent, and I was not informed about the Wi-Fi. There was no information in the room or on the key card holder regarding hotel facilities or services.
I asked if room service was available, as I arrived late, and was told the kitchen was closing in ten minutes. However, there was no menu or even a phone in the room. I later found out there is no room service at all. I had to rush to the restaurant, arriving just two minutes before closing, and was told I could only choose between two dishes. When I requested a second glass of wine, I was refused because they were closing.
The gym equipment is outdated but functional. The room itself was fine but lacked basics such as hotel information and a stocked minibar (it was completely empty).
On a positive note, every housekeeping staff member I encountered was warm, friendly, and service-minded, always greeting me with a smile. The gentleman who checked us out was also very pleasant, proving that some staff do understand...
Read moreScandic Park is the perfect stay for singles, couples, and families. The location is the best-right across the street from Humelgarden on Karlavagen, within walking distance of all the major attractions on the waterfront and close to buses and trains to get you farther. Our family room was good for our five-night stay with a large bed, couch, desk , and shower bathroom. Our window looked out at the park. Breakfast was included in the price and the items varied and fresh. All the staff we encountered were welcoming and helpful. We never got to use the sauna because it was closed, but we could have gone across the park to Scandic Anglaise to use theirs if we wanted. Although the room had heavy curtains to block the light, it didn't block all of it, so better blackout curtains would be nice as sunrise in June...
