Right. Having walked past this little shop many times and admired the sign advertising vegan fish & chips, I finally managed to pop in for dinner. In short: Great vegan fish (vish?), outstanding batter. Tasty sauce. The chips? Look, perhaps I just lived in the UK too long, but fish needs proper fat chips. None of this skinny fries malarkey for me. Sure, it's a matter of personal taste. As is, undoubtedly, the heaps of Parmesan cheese on the fish and the fries, only matched (if not exceeded) in size by the piles of red onions. The latter is a 2023 Swedish thing. Red onions on everything. Trust me, I can't wait for this fad to pass. On a more practical note: Do get bigger plates, folks. Food, like people in the Nordics, needs space. I can't be having little mountains of parmesan sliding off the plate every time I try to cut a piece of fish off. A plate's rim is for gently holding it or, in a squeeze, parking a couple of red onions on it, if you're overwhelmed by the sheer amount of them on the plate. It is not an extension of the area food ought to be placed on. Maybe that's a hipster thing. Overall, though, very tasty. Moretti beer in the fridge, unlike red onions and undersized plates, is a hipstery touch I'm totally fine with. Do step in here and try the food....
Read moreWas really excited to try this place with my wife. I'm from the UK so I had been looking for a place that did good Fish & Chips. Everything looked great, reviews, location and photos.... but aside from that and the sauce served with the food, everything else was a let down.
I had the Fish and Chips, wife had Moules Frites (mussels).
Fish & Chips: Fish was small/dry, chips were not chips, just very dry fries with lots of extra garnish etc to make it look pretty. Hard to eat with the disposable cutlery. I don't understand what's so hard about actually serving real chips in Sweden. If you are calling it Fish & Chips, make sure the chips are actually chips.
Moules Frites: Mussels had very little flavour, dry and seemed they were cooked from frozen. Also some of the mussels were not cleaned properly. And the size of them... They were so small, not a full meal. Same issue again with the fries.
Overall disappointed with the food. Portions weren't great and we left feeling we just had an appetizer and still hungry. Frozen food to cook from the supermarket is better, sadly.
Anyone who gives the food here 5 star honestly needs to have some proper Fish & Chips and or...
Read moreMood inspiration: sunny Sunday, slightly hangover, on the way back home from a delighted swim, life is anew when you’re struck by hunger. You know what you need, fried food, and you know very well where to get it. The level of fulfilment afterwards will carry you through the day and you’re never disappointed.
Good price, good portion, good menu, good vibe.
The best fish burger/fish n’ chips there is in Stockholm and beyond. I’m not swaying my 5 stars lightly, but this small joint exceeds expectations. The menu is small but great, they have found it, the arts of making something great out of simplicity. A lot of people tries, but only...
