Lilla Hasselbacken is an absolute gem on Djurgården! We went for the Tourist menu for lunch, which was an incredible deal: between 156 and 195 SEK for a meal that included a main dish, salad, bread and butter, and a choice of lemonade, water, tea, or coffee with biscuits. We were blown away when our meals arrived, everything looked fantastic and tasted even better!
We tried a variety of classic Swedish dishes: meat with mushroom sauce, traditional meatballs, fried fish, herring, and a vegetarian dish. Every dish was packed with flavor, beautifully presented, and served in generous portions. The chef who brought our food to the table was incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home.
The setup is partly self-service for salads, drinks, and coffee, which was actually great—more freedom to pick exactly what we wanted. Even the forest fruit lemonade was surprisingly delicious! The lady who took our order was super friendly and helpful, adding to the warm, cozy vibe of the place.
The decor inside is charming and cozy, which made our dining experience all the more enjoyable. Overall, Lilla Hasselbacken exceeded our expectations in every way—fantastic food, great prices, friendly staff, and a lovely ambiance. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in Stockholm, visiting one of the museums which are only a few minutes of walk from...
Read moreIt’s true that Vikings can put up with various types of rotten and fermented herring but there’s a limit! We scraped the bottom of the barrel with our visit to Hasselbacken. We are Stockholm residents and on Christmas Day were stuck for a cafe that was open for some traditional Fika. We usually frequent Blå Porten or Rosendal. We could not be more disappointed with this establishment. This cafe clearly survives solely on its location. The baked goods are old and dusty, and the owner is a tyrant terrorizing both staff and customers alike. We witnessed a lady who complained that her coffee was cold which prompted the owner to reheat her coffee in the microwave out back. When the woman asked him “did you just reheat my coffee in the microwave?” He answered yes. The downtrodden woman handed the cup back whereupon he told her goodbye never offering to give her a fresh cup (not that he had any...) or refund her. this place a shambles beware!...
Read moreCame in for lunch after a few hours exploring the surroundings in the cold. Upon walking in, me and my partner stood in the corridor with several members of staff and not a single greeting/instruction as to where to go/sit. We started confusingly walking into the main restaurant indoors (they also have an outdoorish terrace which looks to be apart of the B&B??) and as we set a foot halfway through the door we were ushered out by a lady (seemed like some sort of senior management), who rudely exclaimed they had a private event going on and “we had to use the bathroom outside”, guessing she assumed we were guests staying at their inn or something, nobody asked us what we were there for or gave us any hospitality at all (aside from one guy who waved us goodbye as we decided this place wasn’t worth our money and...
