Skanskvarn — Restaurant in Stockholm

Skanskvarn is an old mill, which today serves as a restaurant and bar. Located just outside the tollgates of the city, on a cliff with water far underneath it – the view from here is amazing and almost panoramic.

This place attracts people of all different types – hungry tummies as well as thirsty companions. But mostly locals, since it’s kept unknown to many. The atmosphere is relaxed, but it can change in tempo when the afternoon becomes evening during the summery months. Every now and then there are bands playing gigs here as well (at least some unknown troubadour that elevates the mood).

I suggest you visit Skanskvarn when the sun is shining as well as when it’s about to set, since it takes the visit to a much higher level. Choose to sit down in the garden or on their terrace – and just embrace the Swedish summer!

Next to the train and tram lines at Gullmarsplan. To get there easier, go on to the tram platform and use the exit at the far end, away from the station building. You have to cross the tracks and then turn right.

The food is really good. We went twice while we were in Stockholm. Once on a very busy Friday evening and then the following day when it was much quieter. There is a wide selection of bottled beers. The food arrives quickly and is hot and tasty. For us it was on the way home after a day sightseeing, so we were changing froma train to a tram at the local station. There was plenty of room and it was comfortable. On the Saturday evening it was great to sit and watch the sun go down over Stockholm. Well...

It's always nice sitting here in the summer and the staff is always great. It was nice with a DJ playing music. Only downside was that he raised the volume so loud you couldn't talk in the end without having to raise your voice to almost screaming which killed the atmosphere a bit as it's mostly seating area and not dancing place so one of the points with being there is to hang out with other people in a socialising way. And it wasn't even that late. Music was nice to have around, the place was good, the staff was great, the location was awesome and i will happily recommend it but the volume on music should have kept to where people can talk and mostly...
