We booked a „Deluxe dubbelrum“ and were put into what looked like a pretty small standard double room. See pictures for how it is advertised online compared to what we got.
After I went to the reception to ask about it, I was told that we already have a „Deluxe dubbelrum“ and was offered to take a look at a „Superior dubbelrum“ instead. Which is the next cheaper option before the cheapest, which is the „Standard dubbelrum“.
The only difference I noticed between the „deluxe“ and „superior“ room, was a slightly smaller flatscreen tv and 2 standard single beds (pushed together) instead of 2 single box-spring beds (also pushed together). I had another look into several other rooms and did not spot any differences, which makes me wonder how the „standard dubbelrum“ looks like in consideration that everything looked like the „superior“ room I was given access to…
Then we were offered to change rooms to a bigger room, which was indeed double the size of our current room but only had 2 standard single beds instead of box-spring beds, which we did not like, so we decided to stay in our initial room.
We felt fooled as we did not understand what we paid extra for in consideration that we chose the MOST expensive double room option there was.
Note again that they offered 3 fares: Standard double room (cheapest option) Superior double room (more expensive) Deluxe double room (most expensive option)
I had a look at about 6 different rooms and they looked all pretty much the same. Nice rooms and very similar interior everywhere including the bathrooms.
The staff was very nice all over the hotel, and very friendly and accommodating. Also a very good breakfast buffet.
Our room was mostly clean. Found some long BLACK hair around the sink and the coffee machine and cups were covered in dust.
What we learned from this experience is that it is NOT WORTH paying extra for a „deluxe room“ (unless you prefer to sleep in a...
Read moreOne of the central hotels in Uppsala is Clarion Gillet. It is located moments away from the heart of the town and most of the sights, both the Linnaeus museum and Cathedral is no more than a 5 minute walk and the train station is a 10 minute walk away. The decor and furniture is Scandinavian styled and very functional focussed. The renovated rooms are nice, sizeable and well designed with a good working area and for the bigger rooms a seating corner. The are plenty of power sockets and wardrobe space and all the rooms have safes and a minibar as well as an iron. The TV's are big and have a good selection of channels. There is a small gym on the first floor with a couple of machines and weights but the area is quite small. The breakfast is extensive and good and lots of fresh fruits in addition to the traditional food. There is a bar and a restaurant on the lobby level and the prices are reasonable and as an elite member you get money to spend in the restaurant daily. All in all a very good budget hotel in the...
Read moreThird time staying at this hotel. The 2 previous times I have had some complaints about the cleaning but the helpful people in the reception sorted it out. On my third stay I got a room that was not completely cleaned. The shower had soapstains from previous guests and the toilet was dirty all over the outside of the seat and there were urin leftovers all around that was spilled by the previous guests. I had to report the cleaning two times to the reception and both times they sent someone up to the room to clean inside(!!) the toilet. After 3 days the toilet still looked like s**t and the stains in the shower were still there. The bathroom should be clean and it makes me wonder if the rest of the room had been cleaned.
I will still maintain some starts in the review as the staff were always smiling and polite and the breakfast was good. I just hope that the cleaning in the kitchen was better than in the rooms. For the future this will not matter as this was my last stay in this hotel for my future...
