Café Årummet — Restaurant in Uppsala kommun

Racist and Rude staff. Details: I used to be working there at this cafe during some weekends and today the owner of the place was very rude to me. I was sitting at a table that is near to a charging spot since I am working with my laptop and sometimes it needs to charge. After half an hour, the owner came to me and asked me (in Swedish) to move to another table. I do not know swedish and asked if he speaks English but he said no, but from his body language, I could figure out that he wants me to move to another table claiming that these tables are for groups (I could catch the word grouppa +the body language). However, there was one girl (blonde -sounds to be European) on the table behind me and he did not ask her the same thing. I was waiting a friend of mine to come. Since I do not know the Swedish language and he said he does not know English, I could not argue with him and I would have insisted on not leaving the place until he calls the police or asks every person sitting on a single table to do the same thing. I decided to leave the place and give him a review of one star. I do not recommend this...

The cakes were good, the food was okay, but the service was bad. I’m highly allergic to bell peppers and the sandwich and focaccia I wanted both had peppers. It wasn’t possible to get one without peppers as apparently they’re all pre-made and pre-packaged. The waitress said she could make me salad without peppers when we ordered, but when she arrived with our food she said the salads were also pre-packaged, so I ended up without a salad. Further, she told us coffee was included for lunch also on weekends, but when we went to get our coffee the guy at the cash register quite unpleasantly told us coffee wasn’t included. We mentioned the waitress had told us it was, to which he rudely stated “She’s new, she doesn’t know anything.”, something the poor girl probably overheard as well. The cakes were nice and came with ice cream and fruit, but the service and communication here were quite lacking. It was also extremely hot inside, with not even a fan for the people...

I used to buy cakes occasionally here two years ago and they tasted good. However, today I bought a passionfruit cake for take away when revisiting the city…then found a fly (alive) on the cake in the takeaway box……Things do happen sometimes, so I was trying to tolerate - until the waitress did not apologize or explain or say anything. Instead she only threw away the one with fly, getting another piece of cake from the same plate where there was fly, and gave to me in silence. She also didn’t ask me whether do I want the same kind of cake since there was fly on the plate…Food hygiene needs improvement, and the service needs even more to be improved. Very disappointing experience and will try to avoid...
