I grew up going to Mexico for vacation almost every year and I really miss good Mexican food while living in Sweden. I'm so happy that we found La Jefa for several different reasons!
The food is the kind of food that not only captures the authentic flavors of Mexican cuisine, it also feeds the soul. I recommend their spicy margarita, el jefe and fish tacos.
I will only eat at 2 Mexican restaurants in Sweden since Swedish Mexican food is generally unauthentic and lacks the spices, spiciness and flavors. I am very picky about my Mexican food. This restaurant is one of those restaurants I will gladly go to and not feel that critisizm.
The staff are wonderful. The owner is sassy, remembers her regulars and has a wonderful dry sense of humor. The bartenders are beyond talented with mixing drinks and anyone we have met has been sweet and friendly. They really care about their work.
The atmosphere is adorable. They have really made the restaurant feel like a little slice of Mexico with all their desert plants, sombreros you can loan, poncho colored table cloths and colorful flags and paintings. Fun Latin music. Plus , you can sit outside if you want to enjoy a sunny afternoon.
There is really nothing to complain about at this restaurant. I can confidently say any of their bad reviews are from people who don't know what they are talking about.
Go to this restaurant and enjoy! There are not alot of places like...

The mushroom tacos are actually probably my favorite, which is funny considering normally I'm a meat guy. The Elote's this second time barely had any cheese or mayo and was mostly just corn. When it's good though, it's good. I don't want this place to go away.
I'm from California and grew up right next to Mexico, so I've been eating good Mexican food my whole life. This is the best Mexican food in Uppsala! It depends on who you ask and where they're from for people to say what is "authentic" Mexican food, but either way the food here is really tasty. The staff was friendly and the drinks all paired well for being a Mexican restaurant. And they had Elote's Mexican Street corn. One of my favorites! Will be back again whenever I'm craving some...
Read moreAs someone who comes from a city that’s particularly snobby about their Mexican food, I think this place was surprisingly tasty! There are a wide variety of taco options, each with decent flavors, though mild on the spice. While many dishes are more fusion instead of traditional, the food still contains familiar and delicious flavors, and the tacos are still better than most Mexican places in Stockholm. I think if the place was livened up with a bit more music and decoration outside, they might bring in more people. But all in all, definitely...
