blindekuh Basel — Restaurant in Basel

I would not recommend this to anyone. My girlfriend and I went for dinner there last night. After thinking about it a lot I cannot not write a review on what I have experienced. It was the worst service I have had in a long time!

When we arrived we were asked if we were having a "surprise menu" or one of the two main dishes that were on offer that day. We were then told our waitress would be with us soon and if we needed any assistance during our meal all we need to do, was simply call our waitress by name and she would come to us immediately.

On arrival you are asked to hand in all your belongings. After being sat down at our table trying to acclimatise to the dark my girlfriend told me that her tissues were in her handbag. She has a cold at the moment. The next time the waitress came I politely asked her if we could get one. After three attempts at getting a tissue I gave up.

I was not able to eat the starter, my girlfriend did and she liked it. When the main course came out that's when I started feeling extremely sick. I broke out in a massive sweat and felt like throwing up. I called out for the waitress as I wanted to leave before vomiting. After at least 5 attempts, can't recall how many times my girlfriend tried to call out, I eventually did throw up but managed to keep it in. You do sit at shared tables, and the couple sharing ours were nearly on our laps so I tried my best not to spoil their experience.

I lent forward on the chair, in case I could not hold it in the next round. Because I was leaning forward I guess I was in the middle of the walkway as one of the waitresses walked into me. Only then did they lead me out.

Not once was I asked if I'm OK, not once was I asked for some water, no assistance what so ever. Eventually my girlfriend was led out. We where handed the bill which had three glasses of wine which we did not get. For the three course meals, two glasses of water and two cocktails it came to just shy of 200CHF. Total rip off.

If I would not have been so sick I would have asked for the manager, however the staff at the end did not care about my wellbeing or complaint that it's not right.

I have one question, what would have happened if it was a life and death situation, you in the middle of a restaurant that you cannot see your hand in front of your face? No one cares or tries to help...

One of my most fancy food experience . We have had an adorable staff during the evening . The food itself was really great even tho we had no idea what was it in the frst place . I always wanted to try the experiance . Overall i give it a 5 stars for the fact that the service it self is handed by realy blind people . I think to be in theire body for one evening helps us to understand the difficulty of this very sad sickness . And makes you understand how greatful you can be to actually have the posibility to see the sun light everyday . And the actually food you...

Ich kann diesen Ort definitiv empfehlen.

Ich bin eben zurück gekommen und immer noch beeindruckt von der Freundlichkeit und Qualität vom Service und Essen.

Es war eine Erfahrung die man mal gemacht haben muss. Kein Handy, kein Licht. Nur die Dunkelheit und deine Begleitung. In dieser Situation kommt man ins grübeln, wie schwer es unsere Mitmenschen haben, wenn man nur noch wenige Prozent Augenlicht hat oder sogar komplett Blind ist.

Grosser Respekt für unsere Bedingung Isa am heutigen Abend. Sie hat uns in, durch und wieder hinaus aus der Dunkelheit geführt und das mit behutsamkeit. Wir haben uns bei ihr gut aufgehoben gefühlt. Wenn es noch eine separate Sternebewertung für die Bedienung am Tisch geben würde, dann würde sie volle 5 Sterne bekommen!!!! Merci dafür 😊.

Beim Essen haben wir das Special 3 Gänge Menü gehabt. Ohne zu verraten was es ist, muss ich sagen, dass ich diese Speisen zwar schon oft gegessen habe, aber noch nie waren sie so gut zubereitet wie am heutigen Abend.

Mann muss sich in der Dunkelheit komplett in die Obhut seiner Bedienung begeben und sich dann nur auf die übrigen Sinne beschränken. Und das ist von 0 auf 100 nicht ganz leicht. Das ein oder andere mal waren auf dem Löffel oder auf der Gabel nichts gewesen, was man sich zum Mund geführt hat! 😂

Dieser Abend ist definitiv eine Bleibende Erinnerung in meiner eigenen Geschichte und wird wohl nie vergessen gehen!
