I visited Basel thrice in the past 1.5 years and I ate at this venue in markthalle multiple times.
The flavours and service are very good but the amount of meat and chicken in the dishes keeps reducing to the point that one day I will not be surprised if the only chicken available is that visible on the menu display.
On the 5th March 2025 the meat was particularly bad. It was full of ligaments and half of it was inedible.
The spring roll was not crunchy because either the oil was not changed or because the oil was not hot enough or possibly a combination of both.
My relatives live in Switzerland and I have decades of experience with Swiss people.
I know Swiss people are very concerned with recieving value for money which makes it puzzling to me why this venue is still popular.
This evening, the 6th March 2025 I think I solved the riddle - many of the clients are foreigners who work in Basel and visitors from Germany.
