Arlequin — Restaurant in Bern

Unfortunately this is the worst restaurant I have ever visited in Europe, a big disappointment! I recommend to stay away from this place

The experience started with a waitress who did not speak English and made no effort to communicate with us and even insisted on speaking to us in German even though we asked to communicate in English. She did not care what we ordered from the menu and she also did not bother to help us, she was very unpleasant.

We got the impression that this was a family restaurant so she felt comfortable behaving that way.

As for the food, we ordered what she had recommended as thier specialty - cheese fondue but when we tasted the dish it was bitter and not tasty, we asked to return it but the management refused and asked us to pay the full price.

And unfortunately this was just the beginning ...

For main course I ordered chicken breast, my mother ordered fried fish and my brother ordered entrecote steak, which wasn't deserved

When we asked the waitress why the dish was delayed beyond reasonable time, she claimed we never ordered it, even though she repeated the order details which also included the steak, before she sent it to the kitchen.

We were very disappointed and offended and...

We had ravioli and a veal sausage with fries.

Unfortunately, the food was of low quality: -ravioli had a cheap tomato sauce. -sausage was ok, but had low quality french fries.

We also had very bad service -we couldn't get contact with the waiter while actively looking at them and waving for many minutes. -they never checked if we needed anything more -when we did get contact we asked for ketchup and parmesan and it took forever to obtain. The waiter seemed to ignore our request to the point we were more than halfway done when we got it.

Moreover, the price is high by north-american standards, but moderate-low according to Swiss standards. The veal sausage was 21, ravioli 21,5 and a 500ml beer 6. For a total of 48,5 CHF we felt we could have...

Waiter was very rude and would laugh at us for asking simple questions about the menu. The fondue was very very bitter and tasted of wine.. not even cheese! The different “flavors” of fondue tasted the exact same. Asked waiter a question later during dinner and she ignored us. We tried asking her again and she ridiculed us again for asking questions about the food and walked away in the middle of a conversation. Never experienced such poor quality of customer service in my life and I have traveled the world. Extremely overpriced for bad food.
