Grottino an der Aare — Restaurant in Bern

We had one of the best experiences of service in a month at Grottino an Der Aare. The restaurant was out of many items on the menu at 7 pm. on Sunday due to the place being busy over the weekend.

We started with a salami and cured ham plate with cheese, and humus. These were good, and the bread was quite nice, with a whole grain sour dough taste.

For the main course, the three of us settled for the sausage with different risotto choices. The risotto was slightly undercooked, still having a crunchy center in several grains. Still delicious. One risotto was with a dry Riesling wine, and the other included peas.

We ate on picnic benches and then moved to the lounge area for a desert and drink. The tiramisu was quite good. Glasses of reisling wine nicely...

Lovely outside place, friendly staff, but the food is not the best. Risotto was good, wine was good, coq ou vin tasteful and tender, but the salad was a loveless bowl of lettuce straight out a supermarket bag, with literally 3 olives and 4 tomatoes, with too much acid dressing. Un bel posticino per trovare un po' di autenticità ticinese a Berna. Ottimo servizio, molto cordiale, risotto davvero buono e delle luganighette niente male. L'ambiente del locale è davvero fantastico. Il menu potrebbe avere ancora qualcosa di più dal nostro cantone. Invece delle luganighette, una vera luganiga nostrana con un bel risollto milanese o una bella polenta col brasato. Il top in estate: costine alla griglia (NON PUNTINE), ma naturalmente occorre un bel grill (vedi foto del Canvetto federale di Canobbio). Ma questo è solo un consiglio, per il resto davvero da consigliare e ci tornerò sicuramente. Se fate le costine, vengo ogni settimana :) Un complimento a parte per il nostro giovane cameriere. Lavora al grottino da due giorni ed é stato molto simpatico e competente! Un altro per la cameriera acrobatica, che ha salvato il vassoio pieno di bicchieri con un azione...
