White Horse — Restaurant in Lausanne

The White Horse is situated near Lausanne-Ouchy a bit away from the lake but can be reached easily with the metro or bus. It has a nice ambiance and the menu looks convincing.

However I was not very impressed with the food. The "Black Angus" burger I had was ok, I would recommend to order it with a normal bun and not the "Foccacia" as the Foccacia bread is so oily that together with the excessive sauce you will have a hard time eating it without it falling apart and having very messy hands. The taste was good, could even be great but the beef and beacon were just ok.

The fries that came with the burger were really not according to my taste, they were not crispy at all and I did not enjoy the taste at all so I left over almost all of them.

Worst however was the reaction of the server when I told him that I did not like the fries, quite rude he basically suggested I should rather eat at McDonald's.

Good selection of Beers and Ciders, and the other servers seemed really friendly. However I will not come back for food...

Go only if you’re prepared to have the manager / main bar tender roll his eyes at you, raise his voice if you take a few seconds too long to decide if you want another round, and make sure it’s not ordered in the last five mins of happy hour unless you want a lecture and to be refused your order. Oh, and if you go as two people and sit at a table for four, two others (not three, not one - TWO) more better show up. Otherwise you have to move tables. And god forbid a few extra friends come join. For being a “sports pub” - definitely rigid and unpleasant and this guy alone...

Przez wizyte w tej restauracji prawie spoznilam sie na pociąg a nastepnie na samolot. Zalezalo nam na jak najszybszej obsludze wiec zanim zapoznalismy sie z menu chcielismy sie dowiedziec ile trzeba bedzie czekać na dania. Na cala obsluge I jedzenie mielismy maxymalnie godzine. Zapewniono nas ze tu wszystko idzie sprawnie i szybko nas obsluza...ok mielismy tylko poczekac na kelnera ktory mial do obsluzenia stolik. No i tak stoimy i czekamy, i czekamy i po 10 min zagadalismy "gdzie mozemy w koncu usiasc?" Uslyszelismy zebysmy sobie wybrali...ok po 10min czekania na obsluge ktora miala zaraz wrócić mamy sie ugoscic sami. Ok...I siedzimy i czekamy na menu...10min, po tym czasie kelner przychodzi zebrac zamowienie. A my jeszcze nie dostalismy menu do rak...ok. na rozluznienie udalo sie zamowic po drinku (z pamieci, z rozmowy z kelnerem). Po kilkunastu minitach czekania na drinka dostalismy ale zamowienie pomylone. Juz nie chciałam tracic czasu wiec dopilam to co dostałam...zostalo nam ok 10min aby zjesc zaplacic i wyjsc na czas. Juz chciałam wstawac od stolika i wyjsc. Im by przepadlo 30chf za pomylone koktajle i mieliby co jeść a mi nie ucieklby pociag i samolot i ogolnie caly wyjazd. Jedzenie musieli zapakowac na wynos wiec sie nim nie na cieszyłam. Samo danie mialo forme jakby stalo i czekalo na nas 30min na kuchni...ale na reklamacje nie bylo czasu. Stek zle wypieczony, frytki byly koloru zolto czarnego i mialy wiecej wody w sobie niz chrupkosci albo nawet smaku. Na swiezo byly niezjadliwe a cale danie musialo zostać dodatkowo jeszcze zapakowane na wynos. Zaplacilam ponad 60chf za zimnego steka, stare frytki, 2 pomylone koktajle, zmarnowany czas i dodatkowy stress nie potrzebny...
