Location can't be beat. Right on the Main Street of lauterbrunnen. We came off the train from the Zurich airport (via Interlaken Ost) with backpacks and a toddler and it was an easy <10 minute walk to the hotel. Views are stellar (note we did pay extra for a larger 2 bed room given staying with a child). We stayed across the street in Hotel Crystal which evidently has been acquired by Hotel Oberland (one of Crystal rooms with balcony at booking). It provided a stunning view of the waterfall via balcony. Note Hotel Oberland doesn't have this same view from all the rooms, and not all Crystal rooms have a waterfall view from the balcony. Rooms are basic but well acquainted. Note no air conditioning. We stayed in early June temps were 50-75 F. I imagine the room would get warm during the day on hot days. We had the windows open constantly. Woke to cow bells in the morning, as the farmers moved their cows down the street. It was quite charming, but may bother some at 5am. Some smoke and noise from the bustling street and restaurants below in the evenings. Super walkable, lots of restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops nearby. There's a playground down the street, too. Great for kids, close to the train, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet from 7:30-9:30am (typically German breakfast of cold cuts, cheese, fresh bread with butter and jam, soft boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, cereal, croissants, hot chocolate, and an amazing self serve espresso machine). We didn't try the restaurant but it's a convenient option. Other than some evening noise and the cowbells, it was very quiet. It would be nice to have coffee available before 7:30am, we were jet lagged and got up early most days, but the cafes aren't open until 9

Hotel Oberland – A Perfect Stay in the Heart of Lauterbrunnen I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Oberland, perfectly nestled in the breathtaking Jungfrau region. The hotel boasts an unbeatable location surrounded by dramatic alpine scenery, making it an ideal choice for anyone seeking a memorable Swiss experience. My accommodation was a beautiful twin room with a private balcony that opened up to an incredible view of the Mürren mountains, complete with cascading waterfalls – a view that felt straight out of a postcard. Waking up to that panorama was truly magical. Dining at the Hotel Oberland Restaurant was an equally outstanding experience. Often regarded as the best in Lauterbrunnen, it certainly lived up to its reputation. On the first evening, I enjoyed a perfectly cooked steak served with crispy fries and fresh vegetables – an absolute delight. The following day, I savored a tender veal dish accompanied by a rich mushroom sauce and authentic Swiss rösti, which was exceptional. From the warm hospitality to the culinary excellence and the unparalleled views, Hotel Oberland exceeded all expectations. Whether you’re here for relaxation, adventure, or simply to take in some of the world’s most spectacular landscapes, this is the place to stay in Lauterbrunnen.

Rooms are good, the bathroom is spacious enough, very clean and provide with all what you need. The rooms do not have AC what it’s kind of an issue if you’re here in a hot summer. Also no elevators but that’s not a big deal. We find later that we could ask in reception for a fan. We had issues with the breakfast, it was full of flies on the food so you don’t have much to choose from, also when we arrive at the tables almost all of them where still dirty from other guests leaving, I’ll recommend to check on that and try something for the flies, it was very disgusting to see some deat flies on the meats. Other than that the girls from reception were very nice, but a lot to say about the restaurant :( unfortunately our experience wasn’t very good but it could be different for other people.

If I was going to book a stay at the Hotel Oberland, Lauterbrunnen I would definitely use a booking website. Do not book direct.|We didn’t mind booking directly with the hotel as we have had two very pleasant previous stays, what we didn’t bargain for was the hotel had new management since our last visit.|In May we booked for five nights over the ’24 Christmas, prepaying in full which is the hotels request. At the end of October they cancelled our Christmas Eve and Christmas Night booking, leaving us with three nights. |This was done by email, with no offer of a refund, the email went to spam and we didn’t see it for five days, by which time the hotel had closed for five and a half weeks. At first we thought the hotels emails had been hacked and we were being scammed, but eventually by going through the local tourist bureau we managed to get in contact with the hotel, who confirmed it as correct.|We walked on eggshells from then on with the hotel, eventually managing to get a refund over six weeks after they cancelled two of our five nights. They said they were slow because they were closed, but I did note during that time that we wanted our refund they did post 67 pictures on Facebook. My guestimate is their cancellation cost us about 110CHF above what we would have paid, as we had to find somewhere else at shorter notice.|We had to contact them for our refund, they made no effort to contact us.|Compare to someone else who had their Norway hotel cancel a night. The hotel rang and rang and rang them until contacting them, apologising profusely and offered to pay for them to stay...

This property is phoning it in on all levels. Our room had debris on the main room and bathroom floors from not being cleaned and two outlets were not functioning. We were charged for our 'reserved' parking place; however, there were no available spaces. We had to drive further into the valley to pay yet again for lot parking and walk back our luggage in the rain. Our dinner reservation - 20+ minutes for anyone to come to our table. As we attempted to order, we were advised that the items were unavailable (about 1/3 of the menu). The rosti that was ordered was delicious, the spaghetti bolognes was not. After the drink order, our waitress never returned, although we did see her streetside talking with locals walking by. She never returned. We finally were able to flag someone down for more water and dessert and we're told there was no dessert available. They stated the same to the table next to us. It took another half hour to receive our bill to pay. The female waitstaff at the restaurant are so busy talking with each other and locals walking by that they have no time for the customers. In our two weeks of travel, this was the only property that we would not recommend. Choose another property. This property is clearly taking advantage of the abundance of tourists and have stopped trying. We were there 10 years ago and it was totally different...
