Swiss Riviera Tours — Attraction in Montreux

I've been traveling for some time in my life now--meeting people, having new experiences, learning about new cultures, and growing in all sorts of ways. It has all given me perspective towards how impactful I want my interactions with people to be. To be as candid as possible, this experience checked ALL of the freaking boxes. Never before have I been part of a tour where the guide was so genuinely present--wanting to teach us as well as learn from us. We learned about the history of the area, the science behind a lot of these practices used at the wineries, how to properly taste and analyze the wine, and all about the life of our guide, Nicolas. He brought us to a vineyard owned by one of the locals whom he has maintained a friendship with over the years. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and the homemade cheese fondue was the best fondue I have ever had. My friend Thomas literally started crying at one point as we looked over the cliffs of the Swiss Riviera--this was probably due to all the wine he had drunk, but it explains how beautiful the moment was. My wife and I enjoyed a relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable day with Nicolas. While we had never met before, we connected immediately and enjoyed deep and meaningful conversations throughout the day, which made the experience all the better.

The Riva boat is beautiful, and we felt like celebrities, as people were snapping photos everywhere we docked...not of us, but of the boat. We toured on a Sunday during harvest season, which made logistics more difficult, as many vintners were working and unable to host tastings. Despite the headwind, Nicolas arranged for us to meet a small, local family-owned winery in Cully, where the patriarch of the family welcomed us and poured his wines. Following that, we were invited to crush the grapes that had just been harvested...a really unique experience and lots of fun.

Following a delightful lakeside lunch, we spent the afternoon touring the lake, including a leisurely walk around Vevey and a waterfront view of Montreux, with a Freddie Mercury tribute taking place near his statue.
