Bar Basso — Restaurant in Zurich

Food is great, I tried a couple of dishes in the last weeks and every plate was pure joy. Lunch menus, pizzas and salads. The service is great, sometimes a bit chaotic, maybe that can be improved a bit. The location is nice for the city and even nicer without the construction sites around, but the biggest pain is people smoking on so many neighbour tables while you have food, it is just a very annoying smell and the smoke is disgusting for non-smokers, I do not understand why a restaurant has to offer smoking pots or however they are called, people come for food and drinks, one can follow it's smoking habits somewhere else, where others are not disturbed by it, and you cannot rely on the clients to stop smoking. If that could be changed, I think the prices would be reasonable, otherwise you pay a lot for great food, but it's somewhat hard to enjoy...

After they took our last wine order an hour and a half before closing time listed on their website.

No one said anything about closing early.

After we got our wines our server came by and asked if we needed anything for last call.

We said no (we had full glasses of wine).

Then he brought us the bill immediately.

We paid our bill (a bit confused). Our server assured us “you can drink your glasses of wine. No rush”.

Then his colleague -if any restaurant owner or investor wants to know, it was the guy with the star on the back of his neck and the chip on his shoulder - turned the music full blast, and started putting up chairs on the tables - making so much noise my friend, and I couldn’t hear...

We went to Bar Basso for celebrating the graduation of my colleague. It was nice that they offered a vegan option for us. The service was not super fast but acceptable. The meal was average: we had a plate of appetizers (olives and tomato were vegan only) with some bread, a small pumpkin soup (around 300ml), a risotto with mushrooms and vegetables, and a small pudding (around 200 ml). Everything except the appetizers were shared between two persons (did they forget we were two vegans?). Except for the main dish, the portions were small. We also had a cup of wine and a green tea. We paid 144 CHF together, which is in our opinion too much for this menu. Not...
