Tales Bar — Restaurant in Zurich

I wanted to go to Tales for some years now, well sometimes you need to be patient to get a reward. Tales is this incredible little, cosy, timeless cocktails bar. The concept is far away from the frantic run after the newest trend. Down here it’s leather, dark wood, jazz music, sit down only, a massive bar and some of the friendliest and skilled bar men in town (we had the pleasure to be served by Adrian). Classic and classy. You can go with the menu or let them conceive a unique cocktail for you based on your preferences. I started with a classic “One night in Paris”, wonderfully refreshing in the mouth, on the first summer night out just perfect. While my fiancé let Adrian make a custom cocktail based on Ardbeg and Portobello gin, a swish of lemon zest. A smoky martini of the house, which he enjoyed to the fullest. After followed a fantastic version of a Clover Club with Frangelico for me which I adored (this goes straight into my favs 🤩) and for monsieur a Mr. Bumblebee also whisky based, with honey cordial and wax which it’s his favorite. All in all, Tales got a 💯 from us in all aspects and we can’t wait...

I was in Zürich for a few days and decided to go to Tales Bar on a whim. I was happy the first time I went here and visited again the next evening! Talk about being a repeat customer on your very first visit!

I asked for options based on my general likes, and I was served cocktails that were surprising and excellent! Water and nibbles are complementary.

Mother-in-law is an amazing cocktail! Highly recommended if you like the classic Old Fashioned cocktail. Go for it! That was my first cocktail here and it set the expectations high up. And it kept going!

The Tales Bar has a cosy, welcoming atmosphere, and conversation with the owners is easy and engaging. And the cocktails are superb! Go by the menu or off it — you will not be disappointed.

I'm surely coming back here on my next visit to Zurich, even if I'm just passing...

Deserves to be the best bar in Zurich. Why the heck is it not in the 100 best bars of the world already?

Service is amazing. Instead of ordering from a menu I told them what I want directionally: spirit forward, not sweet, bitter or sour is great and liquor preference as nothing too sweet and no tequila.

Tried cocktails in this order: Paper plane Kentucky yacht club Naked and famous Old fashioned - this was the perfect last cocktail - very smokey and capped off a great night. If I had started with this, I would have had 4 of these instead!! Unlike every other run of the mill old fashioned, zero hint of sweetness, just a huge depth of flavor. Imagine that!!

Thematically, they were perfect!
