A friend and I swang by Juicery 21 today for brunch since neither of us had been to the place, the menu was appealing and we in the area.
We sat at a small outside table and ordered 2 bagels (a 'Lox Avo' with salmon and an 'Avocado'), a couple different smoothies (Jungle Cure & Pink Fuel) and a cortado coffee. The place had a modern "adapted old brick shop" aesthetic, it was quite full (bordering on cramped), and the slightly hidden location added a good 'curious find' ambiance to it.
The bagels were of a decent size. The bread was warm (but not toasted), but the fillings were sadly lackluster in flavor. The salmon on one was somewhat bland, and the slices had several fatty grey edges on them, which some people might like, but to me said 'not great quality'. The mashed avocado on the two bagels was starting to brown, and both my company and I felt the flavor was flat, lacking in either lime/salt or whatever the shop's choice for seasoning might be. A shame given that one of the bagels' entire theme was avocado.
The smoothies were good - fresh and nice to have in a sunny summer day, so no criticism there, but the coffee, although ok taste-wise (neither burnt, nor poorly made), unfortunately also came up short given that it was served in a rush, without any sugar/sweetener packets on its plate, at the table, or nearby (e.g. in the staff kart outside). The waitress served served it and left in a hurry, neither asking nor indicated anything on that regard. If one wanted to be picky, perhaps a silly detail to point out is that the coffee was also served "as-was", without any complimentary tiny glass of water or other attentions.
To be fair, the venue was busy, the place does state in its website that "[their] specialty [is] juice" (not food or coffee), and the concept seems to lean more towards a minimalistic-service/grab-n-go style, so perhaps we went in with the wrong expectations.
All in all, we are glad we tried the place & the experience was 'alright', but we were certainly not flabbergasted. We might give give it another shot some other day in the future, and we did share the find with some friends who are into health/vegetarian food, but we advised tampered...
Read moreMust-visit spot in Zurich if you care about fresh and clean ingredients. Juicery21 has an incredible range of juices, smoothies, and bowls that taste amazing. The oatmeal deserves a special mention, it’s soft, velvety, and easily the best I’ve had in Zurich. My go-to juice is either the green or the charcoal, depending on the mood. I do wish they offered a few more savory vegan options, but honestly that’s nitpicking, the rest is spot on.
Chelsea, the owner, is on another level. I came in one morning looking half-asleep, and instead of just taking my order she asked what kind of energy I needed for the day. She ended up mixing me something off-menu, like my own custom “wake up” potion, and it worked. That kind of attention makes you feel like she actually cares about your day, not just what you’re drinking.
Go for the food, stay for Chelsea. She’s the reason I’ll keep...
Read moreReally Nice Café! (or juicery!) I really liked the vibe! Even thought it was cold it felt like a nice spring afternoon. Whenstaff was very friendly and we got our order quite fast.
We ordered a flat white which was nice and above average and one of the shakes. This one though was much on the milky side. Just from being there and being able to see how they make it I expected a bit of a tastier shake. You could almost not taste any fruit!
Nevertheless it was nice and we will most probably be back some day if we walk by coincidence and feel like it. Still need to try one of...
