Cartell, a culinary haven nestled in the heart of Zurich, embodies the essence of gastronomic brilliance. From the moment I stepped through its doors, I embarked on an extraordinary journey, tantalizing my taste buds and indulging in a symphony of flavors that left me utterly enchanted.
Let's talk about their quesadillas, oh, what a revelation! Each bite is an explosion of savory delight, as the warm, golden tortillas embrace a medley of perfectly melted cheese, tender grilled chicken, and vibrant vegetables. The harmony of textures and the delicate balance of spices transport you to the vibrant streets of Mexico, where every flavor dances with joyful exuberance.
But let's not forget the tacos de cochinita, a true testament to culinary craftsmanship. The succulent, slow-cooked pork, marinated with a tantalizing blend of aromatic spices, is tender enough to melt in your mouth. As you take that first bite, you are transported to the sun-drenched Yucatan Peninsula, where the essence of tradition and passion is captured within each morsel.

Read moreEdit: thanks to this review the restaurant gave me my refund after I show them again proof. Thank you very much to take my complain seriously.
I visited this restaurant with a friend in September last year and have mixed feelings about my experience. The food was enjoyable, and the service was pleasant up until the payment process.
Before writing this review, I attempted to contact the restaurant via phone and Instagram DM. They responded to my initial message but ignored my follow-up attempts to address an issue with the payment. When it was time to settle the bill, my friend and I wanted to pay separately. I paid my portion first, and as my friend was about to pay, the waitress made a mistake and made her part of the payments with cash, which she hasn't brought with her.
The waitress called her manager to resolve the issue, and he claimed to have fixed it by canceling the initial transaction and charging us again for my plate. While I understood that mistakes can happen, I agreed with it, assuming my money would be refunded within 30 days. Unfortunately, the refund never appeared in my bank account despite my numerous attempts to contact the restaurant and provide proof of the double payment.
Regrettably, the restaurant never made an effort to rectify the situation or refund the overcharged amount. This lack of accountability and customer service is disappointing and leaves me with a negative impression. As a result, I advise people to never accept them to cancel the first transaction and...
Read moreMy wife and I visited Cartell and were left underwhelmed. The beef burrito was tiny. It was cut in half, but even the full portion would have been small, about the size of a nacho chip. It also wasn’t wrapped properly and ended up soggy and dripping. Paying CHF 30 for half of a very average burrito felt like a classic Swiss pricing move.
That said, the meat was tasty, but the burrito itself was what I can only describe as Swiss-sized. Definitely not what you’d expect from a proper Mexican spot.
A 500 ml bottle of beer was CHF 10, which felt steep even by Swiss standards.
The cocktails were good but small, filling only about half the glass. The guacamole was nice, but I didn’t see any salsa, which was surprising.
Service was mixed. The waiter ignored me when I tried to get his attention. His manager noticed and told him to return, which he did reluctantly, making the whole situation awkward.
For dessert, we ordered the famous Mexican churros, but they arrived undercooked and swimming in oil. We sent them back, and the replacement was cooked through but still hadn’t risen properly, which suggested bad or old batter.
Overall Ratings
Food: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5) – The meat was nice, but the burrito was too small, overpriced, and poorly wrapped. Service: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5) – The manager helped, but the waiter needed prompting. Atmosphere: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5) – Nothing special, not bad but not memorable.
Would I return? Probably not, at least not for...
