A peaceful hilltop retreat with some of the best views in Zürich. Lindenhof is a historic and tranquil park located in the heart of Zürich’s old town. It’s more than just a viewpoint — it’s a place where the city’s past and present come together. Once a Roman fort and later a medieval center of power, today it’s a quiet green space where locals play chess, tourists take photos, and everyone seems to pause for a moment of calm.

From the hilltop, you get a stunning panoramic view over the Limmat River, the Old Town rooftops, St. Peter’s Church with its giant clock face, and the University of Zürich on the opposite hill. Benches shaded by old linden trees offer the perfect place to relax after exploring the busy streets below.

10 minute walk upwards from Zurich HB train station. I wouldn't say it's the best view, maybe top 5 of Zurich. Best is always the observatory then Uetliburg.

Lots of places to sit. I loved coming back a few times here to just breathe and read and think. You can bring a snack too but be wary of the pigeons - they flock to you quite fast seeing food. Be wary of what you feed them too: I am not sure if there is a ban on feeding them.

Great view of the river and the Churches (there are 3). There is a water fountain that can also accomodate dogs.

There are stuff to do too. Swings for kids and some people even brought metal balls for playing.

Sometimes gets a bit muddy though so be sure to wear some good shoes/boots.

There are a lot of trash bins so make sure to throw your trash properly please.

The WC is a bit away from the park - you have to go down back the path to the train station. Grossmunster is 5 mins away - lots of places to eat near there.
