Ristorante 33 — Restaurant in Zurich

A complete disaster.

I’ve been to Ristorante33 a few times now and I’ve never reviewed it hoping that it would be better next time. However, I still haven’t had a single positive experience. Neither when it comes to the food, nor the customer service.

First of all, there are no vegan options at all which is unacceptable in 2023. When I asked the waitress she was very confused even just about the meaning of “vegan”. On top of that, none of the waiters speaks English very well so it’s really hard to communicate if you don’t speak German. This is also unacceptable for a restaurant in the heart of Zurich.

The last time I was there I ordered pasta with tomato sauce which was brought to me with cheese on it. Fine, mistakes happen, they don’t know what “vegan” means clearly. They apologized and brought it back a few minutes later without cheese and I finally managed to have my meal. The food was just mediocre.

Negative experience overall, not only this last time, but also every other time I’ve been there. I doubt I’ll be going back...

Ristorante 33 is a place you must visit when you are in Zurich! If you appreciate quality food, great wines in the best of ambience, this is the place to come to. The menu is rich with a nice variety of superb dishes as well as top wines from Italy and around the world. We had an amazing experience. The food was very tasty while the service was impeccable. Truly delicious high quality plates, paired by a selection of excellent wines. We enjoyed a pleasant atmosphere while dining and a very warm welcome from the owner and manager. Last Wednesday I had lunch at the restaurant and had food poisoning!!! I had a standard salad, which didn't look very clean, and pasta with mushrooms and truffle cream. The food was fine, nothing special, but as soon as I got back to the office I had severe stomach pains which led to vomiting. I had to stay home the next day and it took me 4 days to recover. I still haven't fully recovered. It goes without saying that I will not go to this restaurant again and that I do not recommend it to anyone, but I hope that the restaurant will take basic hygiene measures based on this review so that no more people are poisoned.
