Bar Mood Taipei — Restaurant in Da'an District

Stuck up and pretentious establishment. Can't comment on the food, but if its anything like their drinks it will be boring with shallow flavors and a dash of being over-priced

Arrived here on a Thursday at 10pm, was told that since it was the week before Christmas there was a minimum charge of NT 1000 per person to sit inside. Otherwise we would have to stand in the outside area which has no heat. We were tired so we just agreed since we wanted to just have one drink before heading home.

First off, what restaurant has a 1000 minimum?!?! I've never heard of this before. Not even at the fanciest of restaurants or upscale bars lounges across the world and Bar Mood definitely does not rank among them. Seems like a short-sighted money grab attempt since it was "the week before xmas" and left a truly awful taste in my mouth. Seriously, "the week before christmas" in Taiwan so you are forcing a minimum charge of 1000 per person, what kind of reasoning is that?

Second, alright if you really insist on having a 1000 minimum at least set it for peak hours only. Not have it in affect at 10pm (for the entire evening until 1am) on a Thursday when the restaurant is not even half full.

Aside from that, service sucked, drinks are 400 each, taste bland and the atmosphere is sterile and not professional at all. For 400 dollars a drink (not including 10%) I would expect much more. Much better valuable experiences to be had elsewhere! Highly do...

I love this place. The menu is extremely comprehensive for the drinks in the front of the menu featuring pretty illustrations and descriptions. Could’ve been even better if they applied it to all order drinks.

Food service was quick! Especially for cooked food like the yuzu roe pasta, I thought it would’ve taken much longer to prepare. That dish tasted delicious and exactly what I’d expected but better. The only drawback was the cheese plate. It didn’t feature any exotic ingredients and seemed to be dumbed down, considering the rest of the exquisite menu. Anyways, it was still decent for the price.

The service is amazing. There are two bartenders and they’re always attentive of their guests in front of them, asking if the drinks are alright. I ordered 3 drinks and all of them were made in front of my eyes. The garnish was even cut up finely on a chopping board before being carefully placed onto the drink. Not only are the bartenders great, but also the other staff who made sure our water cups were refilled and everything’s in order.

Make sure to have a reservation when you come and to at least order one drink. The minimum fee per person is 500NTD and one drink is about 450NTD excluding...

Atmosphere 8.5/10 Entrance from a local alley - full glass front wall and entrance. Nice atmosphere, but nothing really distinguishing/memorable from design perspective. Decently sized bar seating and a lot of table seating around. Strong focus on food, besides the cocktails - which are still clearly the main focus of the bar. Impressive back bar

Drinks 10/10 Recommendation: Potent-Potion Fruit, Forever 21 One of the largest and most creative cocktail menus I have seen. They use only locally sourced ingredients and created a signature cocktail for each Taiwanese core ingredient. Was impressed how the hazelnut flavor was perfectly distinct, but matching the taste of my whiskey based drink. All drinks are perfectly balanced and have special presentation. Sophisticated garnish and super cool coasters (wooden). Also very nice glassware and mugs

Service 8.5/10 As usual in Asia - high service quality. Team speaks english. Water served immediately. Prices are above average for Taipei
