Okashin shokudo — Restaurant in Taipei

Not your authentic Japanese restaurant, more of a Taiwanese/Japanese/American fusion place. That said, the dishes were all delicious albeit in a non traditional sense?

My sushi roll had mashed potatoes and drizzled with lots of sauces… definitely more North American than Japanese. The saving grace was definitely the tempura shrimps, tasted fresh and delicious.

The soy sauce on the table was too sweet for me to go with the sashimi, and so was the salmon roe. It tasted much sweeter than those I’ve had before, which made me question whether they were real or artificially made.

Overall, I appreciate the service. Staffs were kind and helpful in answering all our questions, but I’m not sure if I’d return… I guess if I’m in the mood for fusion Japanese food?

p.s. they offer a free mentaiko potato for those leaving 5 star reviews… a gimmick I whole...

Their donburi bowls with nigiri sushi are really really yummy, especially the jewel donburi bowl. They even served home-made dessert with macha-jelly at the end. The atmospher is relaxed, service was friendly and low key, and answered my questions patiently since I came from the US and didn't recognize a lot of the nigiri served in the restuarant. ...

zucchini is tasty and refreshing Clam soup is also very great Slightly grilled salmon with mentaikou, and grilled chicken, both go very well with beer I also love the pork neck, where there are special...
