Terrible service. Avoid at all costs, even if it means waiting over an hour for a table at Din Tai Fung.
I had the worst and most bizarre dining experience of my life at this establishment.
Asking for a glass of water apparently triggered my "waiter", who responded to my request as if I had asked him to perform an Olympic feat. When he brought a paper cup of water (filled half-way), he for some reason took away my cup of tea, clearly lacking the intelligence to understand that my request for water was not a request to remove my tea.
I asked another employee passing by if I could have a cup of tea, and when he brought it, the waiter saw this and swooped in to stop the employee from giving it to me. When I made it clear that my request for a glass of water was not a request to replace tea with water (duh!), he stormed off and angrily disposed of dirty dishes he was carrying into a bin. What the?
Not wanting this disturbed individual anywhere near my food, I decided to leave before ordering. As final confirmation that this person was a loose cannon who has no business working in a restaurant, just as I was getting up to leave, he crashed into another employee and spilled food all over the floor right next to a family trying to enjoy their meal.

Read moreLocated in Yonkang area, where so many delicious Taiwanese food restaurant are, This restaurant however stands out with its classic decent flavor of everything! There are 3 different kinds of dumplings, try pork one first because it’s simple yet rich in flavor! You’ll be surprised at the skin and juice it contains! Pot stickers however is the best! The fried skin is not oily at all but provides a crispy texture! I highly recommend it. Don’t miss the stir fried dishes, I love 3 flavor meat bc you can enjoy pork/ seafood at the same time! Also the small dishes at 1 floor are good and cheap, so pick as much as you can, you won’t regret! Fried rice/ noodles are tasty too! Overall, this is one of my fav restaurants...
Read moreBad day to be a Dongmen Dumplings employee when I show up with 9 hungry American college students, as I regularly do. But boy do they make a mean dumpling. As I was recently here three times in one week, allow me to make some recommendations: everything. Out of those, I like the beef or pork steamed dumplings, pot stickers, pork fried rice, and sweet and sour fish. You order on your phone so it’s easy to load up on as much food as you could possibly eat, and then more. Not to mention it’s super affordable!
So next time you’re in the area and jonesing to down 85 dumplings in 20 minutes, look no further than...
