Found this place by accident. Japanese katsu restaurant. Their primary feature is all breaded and fried meats - fish, pork, shrimp, beef. All fried to perfection in a very crisp and distinctively Japanese breading. Cash, credit card and probably e-wallet payment accepted.
A set of appetizers are served first along with hot tea. Thinly sliced fruit, edamame, and cabbage rice along with toasted sesame seeds you could crush fresh for your salad.
I ordered a combo that included one large, fried shrimp, fried pork cutlet, and a generous portion of fried snapper. Obviously you have to be ok with fried food to enjoy this (they have non-fried options as well), but every once in a while it's delicious. Cooked perfectly and tender. Even the shrimp was not overcooked or tough. Fortunately the shrimp was already shelled - just remove the head and the meat below is readily enjoyed. Served with miso soup.
For a small additional fee you can include a drink and a dessert. Dessert was a small flan in a rich, palm-sugary/brown-sugary sauce. Appropriately light after a heavy meal!
Waiter was prompt and attentive and spoke flawless English. Highly recommended if you're in the mood for some fried food Japanese-style. Ambiance is pleasant and...
Read moreI was on my way to another place to eat but in the heat of the summer nigh in July, Dongmen Market was not to be today. We venture out and found this lovely place that can sit our party of 8. After ordering we were presently surprised with some appetizers and Sesame seed with the traditional wooden grinder. We love the passion fruit radish and other appetizers. Sorry if I am using the incorrect terms but it brought memories of a Japanese tonkatsu restaurant in Hawaii. The portions were just right as well as the preparation of pork. The different options with cold udon or curry udon did not disappoint. As other reviewers have noted the server spoke flawless English and all of the wait staff was polite and tentative. We will be back and highly recommend this place if you're...
Read moreGreat food and service! I will definitely be back again in the future!
The food was as delicious as I remembered! I ordered the Tonkatsu with Black Pepper sauce and if you like the taste of black pepper, this is the order to pick! It was spicy but not burn your mouth spicy. the sauce is rich with black pepper taste. The Tonkatsu was soft and super crispy, a loud crunch with every bite. The potato croquette was delicious as well, be careful if you decide to eat it immediately ...
