Ginsman Bar — Restaurant in Hualien City

Clearly the staff are self-absorbed, who felt entitled just because they are probably the only bar that runs good gin/cocktails in the area. The place was empty when we got there and we had a group of eight. It is understandable that it’s a struggle to get a table for eight so we insisted that its okay for us to split amongst the empty tables but they were adamant that they couldn’t accommodate us. Air con was not working properly in summer. Had to tell the staff to turn on the other (serviceable) air con before they turned it on. Perhaps a cost-saving measure.

Did not serve non alcoholic cocktail that partner wanted. Only had a few options of coke and tea. Was told nonetheless we had to hit minimum spending so we got a random tea to whether with my cocktail. Observed the same issue with another lady who wanted non-alcoholic mock tail.

Very nice atmosphere. Bartender was on his own and it took a little while to order and then to get our drinks, but the man knows what he's doing. The cocktails were topnotch.

Not cheap, but you do get good value if you appreciate a good drink.

It is one of the more complete bars in terms of various liquors, extracts, flavorings, glasses, etc... that I have seen in Asia. It is the sort of place that belongs in the Peninsula in HK or Raffles...
