This has to be the best peanut roll ice cream that I have eaten in my Taiwan trip ever. Initially I was still quite skeptical about it after eating so many average and not so nice ones, this one finally convinced me that there is actually good one around. Never seen a peanut roll ice cream stall so far which had a queue like this. Had to order one for myself to judge it. Had to wait for quite a while because of the queue, though they were preparing quite fast there were still quite a number of steps to make the peanut roll and everyone is specialized in their own tasks. 50 TWD is not really expensive as I have eaten more expensive ones elsewhere. Here you can see that they made their own skin for the roll, and the peanut here tastes different and has a stronger nutty aroma to it. The main thing it stands out has to be the ice cream. Most of the places I tried seemed to taste more like sorbet and it's quite tasteless, but this is quite close to a vanilla ice cream, just lacking a bit of the milky taste. I know many people don't actually like the coriander but it's also a main ingredient and highlight of the roll which elevates the flavour of the roll. Have to say the size is definitely chunkier than others I have tried. In terms of flavour this place beats all. Very generous in the peanut powder and loved the aroma of it. It's a definite must try if you happen to be in Yilan or Jiaoxi. Thumbs up and now I know why is there a constant...
Read morePeanut roll ice cream is a famous snack in Yilan! 🍦🥜 It's made with crunchy peanut crumbles, rich-flavored ice cream, and a touch of cilantro, all wrapped up in a spring roll skin. This dessert combines the nutty aroma of peanuts with the smooth texture of ice cream, making it a must-try for both locals and tourists. 🌯😋
The peanuts used in Yilan’s peanut roll ice cream are usually specially processed peanut brittle. The process is more refined compared to traditional peanut brittle. These peanut bricks are first roasted, then crushed into fine pieces to enhance the flavor. When mixed with the ice cream, these peanut crumbles infuse it with an irresistible nutty taste. 🍨✨ The owner carefully grinds the caramelized peanuts on the spot, filling the air with their sweet aroma. Besides scallion pancakes, I highly recommend trying this delightful treat when in Yilan! 🌸👍
Quick tip: If you have a sensitive stomach, avoid eating this together with the scallion pancakes, or you might end up with a tummy...
Read moreA delicious unusual combination of traditional Taiwanese wrap, shaved peanut sugar block, what I think to be red bean ice cream and a sprig of fresh coriander.
It was my first encounter with this combination and I found it to be both refreshing and sweet. The coriander contrasting the sweetness, adding a fresh fragrant herb flavour.
The wrap holds the ice cream well without going soggy. The shaved peanut is crunchy and sweet, with a nutty caramel taste. The cream is more sorbet than cream based....
