We’re visiting from the States and have been craving food from back home. I also have a lot of allergies, so finding a place with food I can eat is sometimes tricky. We found Bottoms Up on Google and it seemed perfect— and it absolutely was!
We arrived right when it opened and were greeted with so much kindness. The look and feel of the restaurant reminded us of home, right down to the music playing.
We started with the wings, which were hands down the BEST wings we’ve ever had. A perfect blend of Taiwanese fried chicken style with that classic American wing sauce.
We also ordered two burgers—the New Yorker and the Brie Royale. Both were incredible, the best burgers we’ve ever tasted. They hit the exact spot we’d been craving and were absolutely delicious.
To top it off, we asked the bartender if he could make a mojito, even though it wasn’t on the menu. He crafted it with such care and detail, and it turned out to be the best mojito we’ve ever had—absolutely perfect.
From the waitress to the bartender to the cook, the whole team exceeded our expectations. The service was warm and welcoming, and the food was absolutely incredible.

Read moreI went there looking for the lamb chops mentioned in another review only to find it not mentioned in the menu. When I enquired the same with the bartender #1 she had an unlikeable face, which I took as a NO and politely asked for an Italian sausage sandwich. What I got was a burger with a beef patty about which I questioned and got a fidgety reply from the waitress, so instead of waisting time I just decided to eat it. By then bartender #2 exchanges places with #1 probably to salvage the tip, asking 'how the burger was?' apparently taking my silence as my fondness to the food. I honestly replied that this isn't what I ordered to which she replied that they mince the sausage and make it to a patty which I found strange and appalling that she was still trying to make an excuse. Finally I paid my bill without any tip to which predictably bartender #1 gave a sarcastic 'thank you'. Well I say 'Good riddance' and sarcastically thank you for making my first trip first day in Taiwan...
Read moreCurrent Review: Though the lamb chop is the best I have had...the service needs attention. I had the opportunity to come back and found that the service staff has gotten relaxed on both nights that I visited. Though it is a small bar and the early crowd (Americans and British) are reliable, the same excuse occurred on both nights that I visited: “the kitchen area is slow tonight.” I expect that the pork chop will take a while, but I noticed that people were continuously asking where there hamburgers were at the bar.
On the second night, I asked for shrimp, which took 30 minutes, and only came up after I had to ask. I used to make this a must stop for English speakers, but maybe not as much.
