This restaurant is located at 43rd floor of Grand Hi-Lai hotel, with amazing view of the Kaohsiung harbor, but sadly the restaurant doesn’t capitalize on this advantage, as they keep the balcony doors closed.
We were there for breakfast buffet that was included with our stay at the hotel. I was overwhelmed to see all different types of breakfast meals this place served. There were about six different stations serving Chinese and American style breakfasts. This included dim sum items, noodle soup, rice dishes, cereal stations, bagels, croissants, bread, sausages, and of course omelettes and eggs. There were six different types of drinks from dispensers. It took me a while to walk the whole floor, check all items and finally get some plates of food.
Ironically the huge variety of the buffet was also their curse, as I didn’t find any items really tasty, most of them were bland. Read moreThe service was great. The wait staff was attentive, covering our corner table with swift, but quiet pace. As for food, there were so many to talk about I can only high lite a couple here. I like the XO海鮮干貝煲. It was prepared in front of you, with satisfying amount of fresh crab meat and scallop. Though not very colorful, it is very flavorful and satisfying. The spellbinding, traditional shaved ice dessert stand was stuffed with all the sweet beans, “pearls” and more. My guest said it brought back his sweet childhood memory. What a treat! The mini 蛋塔 were kept in a small toaster to keep it warm and toasty—that kept its maximum enticing aroma. They also serve red and white wines here, I enjoyed it very much (room temperature red wine would make it...
