Location is great, in the middle of town with views of the harbor, city, and guests below. Arrived via taxi onto a raised road that had one or two taxis on it and not much else. I was created by doormen that spoke probably 70% English, which is very good. Check in wad a breeze and they were super friendly. Now, the hotel is beautiful, super clean, and just breathtaking. About story 5-15 is a mall that is connected to the hotel with the rest of the stories up to 50 i think as guest rooms. The mall is no issue and is not accessable from the hotel. If the front desk agent did not tell me, i would not have known. The building is kinda shaped like an L, and the _ part is the mall. You need to swipe the key to enter a story number. Story 51 and 52 are dining and have amazinf views. My room was a two bed small room that i paid about 125$ US for. Nice bathroom and very clean room. Only thing that i did not enjoy was that the bed oddly enough was mastress, sheet to lay on, then tucked in comforter, no sheet under the comforter to lay in. Very odd. Also, to turn on the lights, your room key must be put into a little plastic pocket by the door. This was auctally a neat concept that also helped me keep track of the one key they gave me. All my American power charged fine, meaning the sockets are suited for the US standard. Breakfast started at 6:30 and is on the 51st floor. Huge buffet with all types of food. There is an omelet bar, but it is hard to talk to these very local workers. I would reccomend google translator to just talk to them or show then a translation. 8/10 for the buffet. I had a local dinner so i cannot talk about the other 4 restraunts on story 51 and 52. Overall I had a solid 9/10 experience. A 10 out of 10 if the bed was a bit better. I think it was the tallest building...

Hotel’s location is good. Walking distance to waterfront side and art pier. Few blocks away from Wenhua shopping street and plenty of restaurant options in streets around the hotel. |Staff is nice and helpful. I asked for late check out and they just could give half our later. Then I asked for gym and sauna access to be extended instead, that was no problem and they allowed me to use it after check out. Great. |Hotel is well maintained apart from the lobby level toilets. Rooms seemed to be renovated recently. Entire hotel is in classic style, not the most appealing and a bit tacky. There are many restaurants and they all look great. Well designed and beautiful decors. |The swimming pool outdoor is nice, peaceful and good for laps swimming. |Housekeeping was good. Friendly Indonesian young man who was helpful and nice. |Gym is well equipped. Pitty there is soft carpet on the floor, doesn’t work well for weight lifting sessions. Sauna a grand and great maintained. Very nice. |The sauna and gym had a lot of elderly people using it. Maybe the hotel sells membership to senior citizens. Average age was over 70 and these people all know each other. Making noise and creating an atmosphere which is not that nice for the hotel visitors. For instance in the gym when they enter they grab all the apples away first and put them in their bags. Then start taking phone calls and talk to each other loudly sitting on gym equipment in non-sports outfits. In the sauna same thing. All elderly men using the facilities like it’s their home. They were obviously not hotel guests. The hotel should limit the membership deal to...

My wife and I just spent the most wonderful weekend at Grand Hi-Lai Hotel celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary, and I feel compelled to share our exceptional experience. From the moment we made our reservation, the VIP Service Manager Susan Wu and her team provided outstanding care. Though we ultimately didn't upgrade our room, they surprised us with beautiful room decorations and a delicious Hokkaido cheesecake arranged in our room upon arrival - such a thoughtful touch that made our celebration special! The Iron Grill Teppanyaki restaurant on the 45th floor provided an incredible dining experience with stunning harbor views. The food was exquisite and the service was impeccable. What truly stood out was the hotel's attention to detail. Every staff member we encountered was professional, courteous, and genuinely cared about making our stay memorable. The room was spacious and clean, with comfortable amenities that made us feel completely at home. I would particularly like to thank Susan Wu and the concierge team for their personalized service and for helping us create such beautiful memories. We will definitely choose Grand Hi-Lai Hotel again on our next visit to Kaohsiung and will recommend it to all our friends without hesitation. Thank you for making our 3rd anniversary so special!

I heard the good things about this hotel years ago, and many kept telling me it’s an aging hotel. That’s why I didn’t try it in my last 10+yrs trip in Kaohsiung. I’m one of those travelers who would try out MRT over taxi or Uber, even my company would pay for it. The hotel is quite far from the MRT station, and the major night market is even further away. Considering there are many newer hotels in the area, I hadn’t tried this hotel until this trip. The sauna/steam/hot bath would be the main reason I would come back for it. There is a small night market a few blocks away to satisfy the curiosity of local food. The rate is quite low comparing to similar level of the overall experience I received. I can feel the hotel staffs take pride of their works, no pressure of high end hotel vibe. It’s quite comfortable. The biggest issue would be the soundproofing. I can hear people walking by the room and chatting. I’m not sure what they’ll hear if I have a meeting or a FaceTime call with family. Luckily, for my stay, either no one’s in my next-door or they’re super quiet, just like me. Otherwise, it would be extremely disturbing to share the noise, no matter if it’s me or someone else. Overall, I had a great experience this time, I will definitely come back in my next trip in town.

We decided to stay at Grand Hi-Lai for a night to commemorate our wedding reception here 10 years ago. I booked the business executive suite as it was available for fairly cheap price. Upon arrival, we were sent to the 46th floor executive reception for check-in. The representative did an amazing job of explaining all the facilities and perks to us. The bell service at front took our luggage and delivered them to our room. Our room was so amazing. The living room huge. Bedroom was even bigger. Both had amazing view of the city. There was a wardrobe/powder room, separate from bathroom. All the alcohol, beer, wines, sodas, water, fruit and snack were included. We also had access to executive lounge that provided happy drinks and small bites. The room also had buffet lunch included that was provided by one of the restaurants in the hotel. Overall I was throughly impressed by hotel. It really looked so grand. Everything was very clean, slick and sparkly. Staff were always friendly and helpful, at reception, bell service, and at the entrance. The hotel lobby had a huge wall of fame of all famous guests who stayed at this hotel. I was really glad to stay here for a night to experience all aspects of the hotel, as I did not remember any of it when we were here 10 years ago.
