What a gem of a place! This place is for whiskey lovers, or anyone wanting a slower evening experience.
Lines of labels from all over the globe take up the walls, demanding your attention. The light catching each bottles shape at the right angle. If you keep looking, one might speak to you.
The bartender Elaine is friendly and knowledgeable to talk to. And while Chinese isn't my strong suit, we could get away with some English. For those making it to Taiwan for the first time, I recommend trying the local whiskey. There's a nice range of flavors. The one I tried wasn't too smokey, but had a nice aromatic tingle that swept through the lining of your tongue and to the back.
I'm not an expert on whiskey drinking or writing about it. But it's an amazing experience if you're visiting through the city. This place invites you to drink whiskey the way its meant to be drank.

We (6 of us) had 3 drinks each, and managed to be happy because we were together. When we did leave and out of politeness, said “Xie Xie” ie thank you. She could not even muster a reply and pursed her lips! Amazingly horrid parting experience.
Not suitable for groups more than 2, talking amongst larger group is not acceptable. 1st question when we entered was, is this a quiet bar ( as we had such experience in Taipei before). Regretful mis-representation by staff. You can tell us to be silent, then we would have left earlier, not over 3 drinks each.

Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting this fine establishment twice during my recent trip to Kaohsiung, and I must say they were both amazing experiences. I have never seen so many unique types of whisky in once place at the same time! The bar staff (Ines and Elaine) and owner were incredibly kind and friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about whisky! They made excellent recommendations based on my taste preferences and shared tons of information about tasting notes (I’m relatively new to whisky). If you’re in Kaohsiung and enjoy whisky, you must visit the Drunken Master. I wish I found it sooner, and on my next trip I will be...
