I always enjoy a consistently good experience at this restaurant. The service is excellent, and the staff are attentive, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment. I particularly appreciate the cleanliness, as many restaurants in Taipei seem to have declined in hygiene, food and service quality.
The food is good, though not exceptional, and the drink selection could use improvement. However, the complimentary jasmine oolong tea is a lovely touch. In my experience, food and drinks are served promptly. While the desserts are enjoyable, the portion sizes are disappointing. The sweet soups are quite small, and the buns are tiny, with only two provided for $110, making them feel overpriced.
On a positive note, the fried rice is delicious and prepared in a healthier way, with no MSG and light on salt and oil, which makes it a standout dish.
There’s also a robot named JoJo, but it feels a bit cheap and gimmicky. Its primary role is to guide you to your table and “look cute”—although JoJo did lead us to the wrong table during our visit. The waitress had to then come over and take us to the right table.
Overall, this restaurant offers a reliable dining experience, but improvements in dessert portions and drink variety would...
Read moreWe started with the cucumber salad, seaweed and beancurd salad, wood ear mushrooms as well as the hot and sour soup, which the whole group really enjoyed. Then came my favorites, the Xiao Long Bao, as well as the Spicy Wonton, and they were bomb as ever, as well as the pork chop , I just think it's better here in Taiwan. We also tried the chicken dumplings as well as the shrimp fried rice, and stir fried pea shoots which were all delicious. Lastly, we had the green squash and shrimp xiaolongbao, which was amazing and not something that can be found in the US, so definitely give that a try! Service was perfect as ever, the wait staff is on top of their game! As a side note, last time I had Din Tai Fung in San Diego, I spent about $85 USD before tip, today the bill was $97 for 6 people while we got multiples of different dishes, so definitely a great value to give Din Tai Fung a visit...
Read moreJust had an incredible meal at Din Tai Fung and the food truly lives up to the hype. The xiao long bao were perfectly delicate, filled with rich, flavorful broth an melt-in-your-mouth pork. Every dish we ordered, from the noodles to the dumplings, was bursting with flavor and beautifully made. They also serve chrysanthemum tea which many places don't!
That said, the 2-hour wait was a bit much. As amazing as everything tasted, I wouldn’t wait that long again. If you’re planning to go, I highly recommend showing up earlier in the afternoon or even late morning to beat the rush.
Also, if you’re vegetarian, go early! Their vegetarian dumplings and other plant-based options are delicious, but they were sold out by the time we sat down for dinner. Overall, the food was absolutely delicious and worth trying, just plan your timing wisely so you can fully enjoy the experience without...
