Moon Moon Food Banqiao Branch — Restaurant in New Taipei

This charming little restaurant offers traditional Taiwanese cuisine, and overall, the food and drinks are quite good. However, the experience is very much no-frills.

While many dishes shine, I wasn’t impressed with the soups. They felt overpriced for the quality, and the flavor was quite watered down. I wouldn’t recommend ordering them.

Inside, the atmosphere can be lively, thanks to the loud music. If you enjoy a karaoke vibe, you might appreciate the ambiance, but if you’re looking for a quiet meal, this may not be the place for you.

The restaurant appeared clean, and the staff were attentive, but they could improve their hygiene practices. It seemed they only wiped the edges of tables, leaving the centers less than spotless. The tables and chairs are small, making it feel cramped during busy times, though I appreciated the baskets provided for bags.

Ordering is convenient through a QR code, which is standard these days. The takeaway service is quite popular, and I noticed the staff were busy preparing orders, which could explain the bustling atmosphere.

Michelin Bib restaurant - so deserving of that. We stayed at the hotel next door and saw this huge group of people waiting outside the restaurant. Must be something good, so we decided to also take a Q number. Told wait time is about an hour but we waited for about 40mins. Ordered via QR code, food served to your table. Collect your own condiments and utensils. Didn’t have to wait too long for the food. Food serving size was generous and very cheap for that quality, something that we wouldn't find back home. Soup was overflowing with chicken meat, just get 1 to share between 2 pax. The steamed fish fillet was good too. I prefer the chicken flavoured rice to the braised pork rice. Signature noodle was good but not quite to my taste. If you order the soup, no need to order a vegetable dish. The soup has plenty of cabbage in it. Absolutely loved the noodles at Moon Moon Food! This branch in Banquao is fantastic – the queue here is much faster and shorter than the Taipei outlet, making it easier to enjoy their delicious food without a long wait.

The staff here is also much friendlier and more efficient than at the Taipei branch, which made the whole experience even better. Their signature noodles are a must-try! The noodles have that perfect "Q" texture, and the seasoning is spot on – every bite is bursting with flavor!

The soup is another highlight. It’s incredibly rich and full-bodied, with a depth of flavor that only comes from fresh, high-quality ingredients. You can taste the natural sweetness and umami that blend perfectly with the noodles.
