Modern Toilet Theme Restaurant — Restaurant in Shilin District

I went to Modern Toilet with my family whom was visiting from overseas. It was a horrible experience. We had already had lunch so we thought it would be fun to just go there, check it out and have dessert. We had a chocolate fondant, 2 peach Calpis drinks, 3 chocolate banana waffles, Poo Poo Ice Cream, Panna Cotta and some french fries. This should have maybe taken 20 minutes to prepare but we waited for 50 minutes to get our food.

I had the chocolate banana waffle. The only thing good about it was the waffle and banana itself. The chocolate sauce tasted like it was artificial and the icecream that came with it really tasted artificial. Over-all, we all agreed that the service and the food were horrible (we weren't expecting much either but 50 minutes for these few items was really ridiculous especially since there were only 2 other couples in the place and they already had their food)

I think part of the problem was these influencers (or we think they were influencers) who were in the restaurant. They ordered all kinds of things off the menu but didn't even eat them. they just spent 1 hour taking photos of the food and letting it melt. What a waste of food and time just for IG.

So my big question always is "Would I go there again?" and the answer is "nope" (slow service and the food was pretty bad). I have no idea how it got a rating of 4.6 (unless it was just for the atmosphere...it's a cute restaurant with cute decorations...but that's about it. It wasn't worth our time or money. $60 USD (2000+ NTD) for that lame food...it should have maybe been about 1000 NTD for all of that...it was NOT good.

If you see these influencers...tell them to stop wasting...

I read the google review and i felt the people were just tooo kind. We went on a Monday evening & it was not crowded. We were greeted by a guy not even friendly or smiley. There were 3 of us (2 adult 1 kid) & told us to sit ONE ROW (sort of a side table) instead of 4seater table (He said meant for reseved). The shop was not even crowded at all and were many empty seats, fine, i told the idea and seated for 10mins & still no customer. I requested to sit on the 4 seater table & seeing his face was so reluctant. If you really unhappy with your job, quit. This job doesnt suit you. This is the first incident that happened when we have not even order the food. Or is it because we are tourist and the attitude is different? Another local (mother and son) came in after, he DID not mention that the 4seater seats are reserved. Very obvious he choose the customers because on nationality? Second, there was a ball pool pit & balls were lying around. He just throw blindly without checking the kids safety, just many times i saw it nearly hit the kid.

This is my second time patroning this shop & would be my last time. I don't recommend coming over just for Instagrammable moment. Food portion was big but based on experience, i prefer a cafe with better service and attitude.

It's our first time here and we had a very positive experience from excellent customer service, to delicious food, interesting toilet 🚽 inspired theme all throughout the walls, Furnitures, dishes and even the wash basin in the restroom... 😂 Food price is not too bad with the pretty big portion for each dish we ordered, even had some leftovers and of course we had to take it home bc it's that yummy! Just remember to bring cash as they don't accept anything but cash. Location is prime, as well. My relative mentioned that this location has better tasting dishes since it's the original one in Taiwan with the Master Chef. Highly recommend, every English speaking diners started laughing/chuckling as they walk in to find their seats. That's always a very good way to start your...
