I’ve had this saved as somewhere I wanted to go for a while now since the pizzas in the photos looked authentic and the price seemed very reasonable.
I am happy to say the experience did not disappoint. As other reviewers have mentioned, the pizza base is just perfect with crusts that are doughy but with enough of a crispness to the outer edges. What’s more, the boss clearly takes great care in selecting the right ingredients, using cheese that actually tastes like you want it to and the correct kind of basil.
If you plan to visit during peak times I suggest you reserve a table, the place was unsurprisingly consistently busy and we saw two couples being turning away (unlucky them!).
Finally, the boss seems to have very high standards for his pizza, delivering each to the table personally, even apologising for a slight flaw in one of our dishes, although honestly it was delicious. And as well as having a great attitude he is incredibly handsome - my partner was shy to...
Read moreExcellent Neapolitan style pizza - probably one of the best in Taipei. They use a 48 hour fermented dough which results in a perfectly airy dough. The margherita was good but slighty lacking in any particular flavor but the truffle arugula prosciutto with white sauce was delicious! Ingredients are all very fresh as you can see everything being prepared in their open kitchen.
The only thing that was disappointing was their tiramisu. The portion was surprisingly little and there was essentially no coffee/liqueur taste.
The owner was incredibly friendly as he was very willing to share stories about his learnings on pizza ovens, making pizzas, etc.
Lastly, pricing was very reasonable as it came out to about 970 for the two pizzas, a burrata cheese on the side, and the tiramisu for two people. They take cash and credit card (no international cards).
Would absolutely come again for great Neapolitan...
Read moreAfter living in Italy for 5 years I've made it a goal of mine too find authentic pizza napoletana.
When I got to Taipei, my friend from Naples insisted on bringing me and my family here. Actually, he and his son were going because he wants his son to know what real pizza is. I was lucky enough to be invited along.
The pizzaiolo trained in Naples. His pizza oven was imported from Italy. The important ingredients, like the mozzarella, are all flown in fresh from Italy.
The pizza won't get to your table super fast and not all together. The owner is making each one fresh to order and he's the only one making pizzas. I'd recommend getting 1pizza per person or more but to share the first couple that come out. Especially if you're with a large group with lots of kids like we were.
Great pizzeria....
