I wasn't going to write a review of my experience, but it is so disappointing that I feel I have to. In addtion, I want to warm others who will probalby face the same situation if they are going to deal with a poorly trained waitress and an even worsely trained floor manager. The waitress, I can easily forgive, for I know very well what it is like to wait tables and the mistakes that can be made when learning, but the floor manager is just pathetic. Here is what happened and you decide if this is something you feel acceptable at a restaurant where your bill comes up to nearly 6,000 for five people. My wife ordered the full-order ribs and the waiteress got it wrong and brought us the half order with shrimp and a salad. We simply told her that she misunderstood, and we would wait for the right order. She took it back and a couple minutes later the floor manager returned with the same wrong plate and asked if he could just take off the shrimp and they would later bring us another halfrack of ribs with fries. I told him no because my wife is highly alergic to shellfish and the ribs are by now cold, so he RELUCTANTLY took them back. About 10 to 15 minutes later, he brought us back a full-order of ribs. After he set them down, he emphasized that they were a new order becasue he had seen it himself, so I was instantly suspicious. After I took a bite of both racks and one was hot while the other was cold. My wife did the same. Obviously, they didn't cook a new one. They weren't even smart enough to warm them up. When he came back, I told him that I didn't appreciate that he lied to us and brought us the same rack. (Sorry to make this so long) We all new he was lying and he picked up on that, so he finally offered to take it off the bill without our request. If he had just not tried to trick us and handle it properly in the first place, I would not be writing this. Here is the thing; if my wife and I were the complacent or non-confortational type, he would have thought what he did was okay because he got away with it. (typical lowlife mentality - if you can get away with it, it's not wrong.) My wife doesn't like going to GB Brewery for dinner becaause she thinks it is overpriced, so I have to convince her to come tonight for our Christmas dinner. It will be hard for me to ever convince her to go back, but if GB is going to hire sneaky and deceptive floor managers like that, I don't want to go back either. Texas...
Read moreSadly I could not tell you if the food was any good because it was so overshadowed by the atrocious service.
Before some of us had finished our meals they had already brought us our bill three times! We were on second drinks and almost ready to order more and something sweet when the bill arrived a third time. We asked why the bill came (again), the answer was ‘because their dining time was two hours.’ I guess this would make sense if it was 8pm and the place was packed, however it was 5pm and there were three or maybe four other tables in the entire place (on a Tuesday). Surely at some point logic needs to prevail, if there’s no one waiting for tables and the tables you have want to order more, DONT CHASE THEM AWAY!
Such an unwelcome and unpleasant experience, not to mention mistakes with food order, only one waitress in the dining room while 4 other chat by the kitchen, it wasn’t that busy but even just asking for a menu was an expedition cause we had to find that one same girl each time!
I doubt any of us will go back here, hopefully the Xinyi branch has better service, and hopefully the owners understand that they could probably make double if not more in revenue if they had semi...
Read moreAn incredibly satisfying experience. We were in the mood for a Western meal but wanted casual with quality food. GB was the perfect answer with an extensive menu with many options. I opted for the chicken on mashed potato with asparagus and fried onions. Everything was delicious with melt in the mouth chicken, one of the best mashed potatoes and fried onions I have searched all of Taiwan for. My partner had the tuna sashimi salad which was exceptional. Fresh, wonderful flavors and tuna that sushi lovers dream about. We topped it off with the carrot cake. Eventually I have found someone who understands what carrot cake is supposed to be! Amazing and I would return for that alone, but the food was so good that I will make this a frequent choice for top quality...
