I've tried both their sesame soy milk (chalky) and summer special pumpkin soy milk (chunky) to date and neither have much pizzazz.
Their mini glutinous rice meatball is tiny with a punch: the filling is reminiscent of those of 福州魚蛋. The sesame and radish pastries (酥餅) are thick-skinned and have low filling to pastry ratio, making for a dry chew, though the filling is good.
The scallion bun-roll (原味蔥花餅) is sweet and tacky rather than airy. There are way better ones within Zhonglun morning market next door.
Their signature lion's head meatball sandwich (獅子頭蛋燒餅) is moist and flaky. The shao bing is not the best I've had, but the meatball more than makes up for it, especially with a dollop of spicy bean paste (self serve). I'd recommend getting this, but it's not worth going out of the way for.

Read moreThis is one of those stalls patronised by many locals for their quick and nutritional breakfast fix. They are famous for their thick soya bean drinks. There are different variations - original, almond, sesame. They also have rice milk, pumpkin add-ons. We tried their original and almond soya milk. They are as good as expected. We also ordered their Onion pancake, rice ball and egg roll. They are all very good and goes well with the soya milk drink. The shop is the normal quick-turnaround type where you don’t stay long after you finished your meal. As with all restaurants in Taiwan, you need to clean up after use and return all the utensils and cutleries to the bins. Price wise, it’s reasonably cheap. $. Worth a visit for no fuss traditional...
Read moreWas planning to try out a new Taiwanese breakfast place and saw 秦小姐豆漿店 has high Google ratings, so we decided to give it a shot.
From the menu above the cashier, seems like egg rolls and shao bing (燒餅 sort of like a flatbread) were their key products. So, we ordered two shao bings; one with “scallion omelette & pork floss” and another one with “scallion omelette & fried dough”.
Overall, I didn’t like both as I found shao bing tasted slightly dry and along with dryer ingredients such as pork floss and fried dough, the more I ate, the more ice soy milk I drank. It was like my mouth had dried up and desperate need to stay hydrated.
Since the place has high ratings, I think I will give it another try but definitely will not order...
