Ah yes, the “Japanized Western restaurant”—a place where Western food goes to die slowly under fluorescent lights and an onion garnish.
Let’s start with the Golden Grilled Fish, or as I like to call it: Half-Cooked Regret on a Plate. Nothing says “fine dining” like biting into raw fish when you weren’t expecting sushi. The seasoning was so dry it felt like I’d swallowed a desert storm, only to be “refreshed” by the sides: a raw onion, half a corn cob, and existential despair.
Next, the Grilled Surf and Turf. Sounds fancy, right? Except the shrimp still had its poop and skin proudly intact, like a biology lesson no one asked for. Note to the chef: this is a “restaurant,” not a fishing dock. The sides? Oh yes—our good friends raw onion and corn made another appearance, with two slices of zucchini that screamed, “Budget cuts!” The beef and scallops were edible, which is the nicest thing I can say.
Then came the Fruit Salad, or should I say Fruit Plate for Ants. Two lonely slices of fruit per type, with kiwi so tiny you’d need a magnifying glass to verify it wasn’t imaginary. Old fruit never tasted so… sad.
Dessert was ice cream—fine, until I realized they’d padded it with stale bread underneath, like some culinary illusion trick. Because nothing says indulgence like biting into dry bread under your dessert. Bravo.
And let’s not forget the policy gymnastics. You can’t just order one dish—you must submit to the almighty “set menu,” which costs more, not less, despite the waiter’s algebra lesson on how we “saved” 200NT by paying 500NT extra for sides nobody wanted. Thanks for the financial riddle, but I came here to eat, not solve Sudoku. Finally, the plating and design. Minimal effort, maximum price tag. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to sell me air as a side dish.
In conclusion: if you enjoy overpaying for raw onions, shrimp with digestive tracts intact, and fruit so old it could have its own pension, then congratulations—you’ve found your culinary heaven. For the rest of us, maybe just… don’t. P.S. one star...
p.s....
Read moreVery considerate and well trained staff, great food. I accidentally dropped a knife and one of the waiters appeared and replaced the knife in less than a minute without me asking. The table we were sitting at was obscured by a wall so the waiter could not have known we had dropped a knife. It was quite amazing that he made the judgement based on the sound of the dropped cutlery! They were also very considerate of my toddler son bringing him complementary food and also helping in putting him to sleep by rocking his pram. It was very obvious that the staff really cared and were trained really well! Will definitely go...
