I stayed at this hotel for a week to visit Taichung Bike Week and a couple of days either side. |The room was clean, it was spacious, and was made up -sort of made up- every day.|There was ample wardrobe space, kitchen sink and fridge, sofa and coffee table, a desk, and the TV was 32". The bed however was like a slab of granite. |The bathroom was quite large and had a bath with shower hose inside. This sprayed everywhere as the head was slightly broken and created a lake -maybe an ocean- on the bathroom floor after the shortest of showers. |The room and bathroom did look a bit dated, although as mention, clean on the surface. |I lost my phone one morning though and whilst searching for it I checked under the bed and under the sofa. BAD IDEA. That hadn't been touched for some time!!!|During the show, due to lots of space being needed for exhibitors, you get to have breakfast at the Brasserie on the 12th floor, which is where the residents of the Inn's bigger brother, the Splendor, eat breakfast. This breakfast is fantastic. The choice is never ending, so it was with a bit of a crash that after the show had been dismantled they moved us from the "Inn" down to the 11th floor for breakfast on large undressed tables to be shared, and a choice of anemic looking meats, stale bread rolls, a couple of juices, and not much else.|I suppose you get what you pay for as the price was cheap, and I guess the Splendor would have been more (not sure of this though as it was fully booked...
Read moreIf I could give 0 star to this hotel, I would. The hallway has the smell of raw sewage. When I walked into the room, right away I noticed the dirty walls and the stained couch. Not off to a good start, but maybe ok if I just stayed off the couch. Later in the evening we went to SOGO department store, for dinner and some shopping, which is conveniently located just across the street. We got back to the hotel room fairly late, and that's when we noticed the cigarette smell, very faint. It was very late though and all of us just wanted to sleep so we didn't change room until the next morning when the cigarette smell became unbearable. Our new room was really not that different, two floors higher, same sewage smell in the hallway, stained couch, but no more cigarette smell. The staff never even apologized for the room condition or the inconvenience of moving. We also had a problem with the new toilet - 5 or 6 flushes needed for numero dos. The breakfast on the 11th floor was awful. The table cloth was not replaced or cleaned after guests so we actually sat there one morning with some disgusting crap left behind by previous guests. I really can't think of one good thing to say about this hotel other than its proximity to SOGO. I wish I had paid more and stayed somewhere else, even...
Read moreThere's no denying that Park Lane Inn won't be as lavish as the Splendour Hotel next door but then again, the room rate is significantly lesser. That being said though, the view from Park Lane Inn is impressive as it is located much higher than Splendour Hotel. From our room, we could see beyond Taichung City Central and beyond and it is quite a view. The room is rather spartan with minimal offering but still, it offers a settee with minimal support. WiFi is strong, bed is large but devoid of support. There is a kitchenette with minimal utensils but space is aplenty. Air conditioning is akin to North Pole and it has a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde personality and the same could be said about its hot water in the bathroom too. Apart from that, service is adequate. If you were to drive here, there are 6 levels of car parking at the basement and for hotel guests, it is free of charge. Food offered on Level 11 is token gesture because it is not delicious and basically, very generic and nothing memorable. But be mindful of one thing though, you get what you pay for, and Park Lane Inn is adequate for a few days stay. ...
