EDIT TO RESPOND TO OWNER: what standard rules am I not adhering to? As stated, I never had issues with your minimum (that's why we sat down after being informed), I just called it out so others are aware before coming and made the decision for themselves with the info. Help save people a trip since while we were there a few parties left upon entering because of this reason.
I also provided feedback so that you can improve but your hostile response makes me not want to waste my time anymore. In summary no customer should ever accept the following treatments (no rule should ever require someone to in a democratic state or otherwise): 1. Repeated pressure to order wine when they already said no, 2. Bland and no seasoning in their pasta, 3. When asked for it to be packed, the owner decides to not pack it, 4. No proper takeaway containers. I hope you fix these issues to not impact future guests.
We had two adults and two children (3 and 5 years old), upon entering we were told it's a $400 ntd per adult and $200 ntd per child miminum. The small restaurant was empty except for another table so it felt weird to set such a rule but we agreed. We sat down and was asked if we wanted wine, we explained that we don't drink alcohol and had kids with us and they said they had non alcoholic wine which we politely declined. As we ordered, we were told the Italian sausage is now replaced with ham (red flag).. We ordered the two pizzas and a carbonara pasta. Turns out we were didn't meet the minimum so the boss came out and told us. They he asked us to order wine again, we said we don't drink... This happened again with the other water asking us about wine again. I understand that wine is a high margin item, but if a guest says no the first time, it should not be brought up again. Then to meet the minimum, we ordered another carbonara and asked it to be packed to go. The waitress said ok.
Both pizza came out quickly and tasted fine, we have no complaints there. However, when the pastas came out, he brought both and said that it's so good there wouldn't be any leftover... Again, this isn't what we asked for but we didn't have a choice. The carbonara looked odd, it had a mustard yellow color sauce which we aren't used to. Keeping an open mind, we tried it and it was completely bland. No salt was added it seems. We were already full from the pizza so after a few bites we just asked for both pastas to be packed up so I can fix it when I reheat the next day. It took a long while for it to be packed and it turns out the reason why they didn't pack it originally was bc they didn't have proper takeaway containers. They ended up giving me two 4 oz cups with plastic wrap and a rubber band to secure on top, no lids. As the waiter is digging around for a plastic bag, I said it's ok and just grabbed the cups and left.
Overall, we felt uncomfortable the entire time. The bill was $1380 ntd and we didn't feel it's worth it. I would not recommend this place. Maybe order the pizza to go if you must but there are better...
Read moreActually, we sat in side. It was not about you can provide extra plates or not. It was about your waiter's attitude when he told us that's not a 5-stat restaurant. He could be cool and let us know it's not convent to provid extra plates becaus you were busy. It felt like he was educating customers. It was not a big deal.
Don't make up the story to mislead the review. The story you are telling in your response is NOT true. When you mentioned that we had 3 plates, I realized that you to are not telling the truth and stopped reading your dishonest reply immediately, because we just had 2 plates for 2 of us. Here's all I want to say and I don't want to waste time on this anymore. We had salad as our appertizer and used our plates to share. The salad was seasoned with lots of rice vinegar, which left vinegar on our plates and the smell is so strong. For this reason, we asked politely for clean plates when pizza is served. However, the waiter ( the tall, thin guy with his hair tied up behind his head) responded immediately with unfriendly tone and told us this is not a 5-star restaurant, and we should use the same plates for all dishes. I explained the situiation to him twice but he didn't buy it at all and kept telling us this is not a 5-star restaurant and the clean plates we gonna have is just for this time ONLY. He said " IT'S JUST FOOD."
Here is my suggestion, for the customers who order salad, you should step into customers' shoes and understand customers' real needs. We are not trouble makers, the only reason we need clean plates is not letting the smell of vinegar to affect the tastes of pizza and pasta.
Everyone in the restaurant is cool, but THAT waiter is not okay. I know the 1-star rating is not fair to the others in the restaurant, but the 1-star is...
Read morea friend of mine recommended me to visit this restaurant next time I went to Taiwan. He told me how great the food and atmosphere is. The location is perfect for an afternoon luncheon. I had the pleasure to visit Taiwan last month and took up on my friends request. To visit this restaurant that he praised so dearly. I walked through the doors with excitement and joy. I knew I would have an extraordinary experience in this restauarant. Some genuine Italian food in Taiwan.
Let's just say I cut all contact with my so called "friend" and told him to never contact me or my family ever again. I deleted his number and unfriended him on Facebook and Instagram. I called his workplace and told them that they have a liar as an employer too for good measure. This is how much of an awful experience I had here. The food was subpar, the experience was far lower than average and the entitlement of the owner was on par with Donald Trump.
I do not recommend it here. The toilets however were in decent shape. I know this because I spent some time in there throwing up the food and cleansing my organs after the pasta. Thats why i give this...
