Since the Cold War is still on with my wife ( hopefully it will end soon), I decided to look for a relaxing place to enjoy my afternoon with some dim sum.
Yum Cha (literally mean drink tea) is a Cantonese restaurant with a relaxing atmosphere which anyone can enjoy on their own or with that special someone.
The sitting area is in upstairs which filled with nice soothing jazz (good thing is not elevator music, which can drives you nuts if you know what I mean). The service is nice, they just let you do the order with an ordering form.
I ordered a stir fry instant noodles, which is a classic dish. It was really tasty especially with the hot sauce (which you can get from the counter). The serving is just enough for one person. Next is the 蝦餃. I don’t usually order 蝦餃, but I read that, if the 蝦餃 is good, then you have hit the jackpot. I thought the 蝦餃 was okay, it lacked salt and the skin was too thick. I don’t know if that makes the the restaurant good B or bad, but I had better 蝦餃. The last order was 蘿蔔酥餅, it was good, but again it lacked flavor. For some reason the dim sum was really light on flavors. But I guess it’s healthy.
Overall, I really enjoyed hanging out, drinking the ying-yong tea. And the noodles were delicious. I would definitely come back again hopefully with my wife when the Cold...
Read moreWe’ve visited many dim sum restaurants across the US, Canada, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, and this one is the most authentic we’ve found in Taiwan. My husband is from the US, and I’m from Hong Kong, where my family are true foodies. Every dish we tried was excellent, with perfect portions. The pork ribs and siu mai were especially tender and juicy.
We also ordered chicken feet, turnip cake, glutinous rice cake, char siu BBQ steamed buns, sweet buns, xiao long bao, Hainan chicken, and honey barbecued pork — everything was delicious.
The waitstaff were very polite, serving the food promptly without making us feel rushed. The environment was comfortable, not noisy, allowing us to enjoy a relaxed conversation with our family. The restroom is located on the second floor, and guests can help themselves to sauces and water. Overall, we were very satisfied and the pricing was reasonable for the quality of dim sum. There were four of us, and they seated us at a table meant for six, which gave us the perfect amount of space.
If there’s one wish, it’s that they had Cheung Fun on the menu. To us, dim sum isn’t just a meal — it’s a vital part of Cantonese heritage and our family tradition. We’re so glad we found this restaurant (or cafe) and are already looking forward to returning. We will definitely recommend it to...
