Kazama Gongyi Main Shop — Restaurant in Taichung

We had a reservation and were running late. We called and called but they didn't answer until maybe our 6th or 7th time of ringing. We told them we'd be about 20 mins late because of traffic. They said they'd hold the table for 15 mins and then call us back. We assumed they must be busy and so rushed as best we could. We were only 13 mins late in the end so it wasn't a problem. But there was only one other table of guests and a huge empty restaurant. Why had they made holding the table such a big deal?

Perhaps it was because they didn't really want us there as this was the impression the waiteress gave us from the moment we sat down. She just seemed to not want us there at all and her attitude was strangely grumpy and aloof. We asked for the drinks to come first, and when we were half way through eating there was still no sign of them. We asked a few times and were told they were being rushed ahead for us. There were only 2 tables with guest in the whole place.

Strangely, at this point in the meal, before some of the food and before the drinks had arrived we were asked to pay. Honestly, I think we should have refused until we'd finished but we didn't as we're not the argumentative type.

To top off the experience at one point in the meal the waitress helping us cook picked up a large piece of raw chicken thigh and placed it next to a cooked piece of steak on the grill plate. She then proceeded to use the same set of tongues she'd used for raw chicken to pick up the cooked beef and put in on our plates to eat. I'm not sure if she was just totally ignorant or what but it was representative of the bad attitude she'd given us throughout the meal. I will say in her defence that she was the only person in the restaurant working the floor and by the time we left was trying to cook for four different tables.

We ordered 2-people combo for the three of us(girls). It was totally enough. All kinds of beef were awesome. How juicy and tender it was! Seafood was fresh and tasty.
