I recently had the pleasure of dining at Umai in Taichung, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The restaurant's cozy ambiance, coupled with impeccable service, set the stage for a delightful evening.

The menu offers a wide variety of fresh ingredients, perfect for the hot pot aficionado. From premium cuts of meat to a plethora of vegetables and seafood options, there's something to satisfy every palate. The quality of the ingredients truly shines through, and each bite is bursting with flavor.

At the price that this restaurant is charging, the quality of food and service is not up to standard. We ordered the bare minimum and the bill racked up to ~NTD 2000 per pax. Meat and soup base was mediocre at best, seafood was not fresh. Service was as good as non existent, you can get much better service at chains such as Haidilao at a much more affordable pricing.

Also the waitress mentioned to us that each person had to order a minimum of one hotpot set (soup base + meat + appetiser + dessert). However, we saw at other tables diners were able to share a pot amongst 2 pax.

Overall, given that hotpot is meant to be a communal dining experience we were not satisfied with the meal. You are better off having hotpot in the comforts of your home.

The classiest hot pot restaurant I’ve been to. Enjoyed every bit of it. The broth selections were all light and not oily. Delicate, subtle but delicious! Meat and vegetables were all very fresh. We also enjoyed the sauces that were given. Quite refreshing that we didn’t need to mix them ourselves. Most importantly, the service was 😘! Our waiter even cut the corn to remove the kernels. Had a small chat with him too and since he knew it was our first time to the restaurant, we were presented with a beautiful art piece. Thank you no 9. You are the best! The team did a great...
