KR Prime Steak House — Restaurant in Taichung

Actually, I would give 4,5 stars, but due to certain glitches, I will stick to 4.

Upon our arrival we have been welcomed by the staff and led to our seats, had water served, got introduced to the menu. They were professional and attentive during our entire stay, cheers to their performance.

The atmosphere is pleasant, typical modern, simple, somewhat minimalistic interior, something you could see in movies too.

We had a 2 people set meal, which (in our case) included crab and duck foie gras as starters, followed by onion soup and consommé, wagyu and fillet mignon with baked potatoes and french fries, wrapped up with crème brulée. The starters were indeed amazing, harmonious flavors with ingredients composed in an exciting manner. The soups were also great, however I wish the consommé had a slightly stronger taste.

Then here comes the main dish, the king of beefs, plated on some sort of gratin pan with a lonely stalk of parsley, which looked a bit sad. The meats came pre-sliced as well, which I personally don't like in case of delicate cuts, because they tend to lose moisture by the time they arrive to the table, although both kinds of beef were cooked perfectly.

My biggest issue with the whole experience is that despite one of the priciest restaurants I've ever visited in Taiwan, it didn't deliver true excitement, felt like it was balancing between refined fine-dining and a steakhouse and eventually did not provide anything outstanding.

On the side note: You can bring your own drinks, but instead of a universal corkage fee, guests are charged by the cups, 100NT per each. Bit...

Fantastic and high-quality ingredients, wonderful and warm service, spectacular presentation, and all in an elegant and sophisticated environment, this is a wonderful experience! The meats were perfectly cooked, the salads creative and gorgeous, and the soups and appetizers sincere yet fun. Expect to spend around NT$5000 for a feast for two.

Follow up visit, December 2019: Again, the soups, appetizers, and salads were exceptional in creativity and flavors, and the meats were perfectly aged, cooked, and presented. The servers are outstandingly efficient and friendly, and the overall experience is one of the best...

This restaurant is wonderful in so many different ways. First, it's conveniently located in the heart of the city. There is a parking lot next to it. The restaurant has very friendly staff. They are very sweet and hardworking. The meal I ordered consisted of several dishes including soup, salad, the main dish which had delightfully prepared Wagyu steak, a scallop appetizer and crème brûlée dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious and I left completely satisfied.I hope to come back soon for another fabulous...
