We used to enjoy some heathy delicious (yet expensive in Tainan’s local standards) veggie food here with our little one who is still learning to eat food using baby-led weaning method.
As previously frequent visitors, we were unexpectedly told we are no longer welcomed in the restaurant upon making a reservation one time. The reason is simple: our little one left some stains for them to clean up, particularly an European-tailored child chair. I am surprised to see how one can offer child seating without knowing how kids learn to eat and an European made a chair without knowing child eating might some marks.
For the record we tried to tidy up as much as possible every time we visited, and subsequently we offered pay a service charge shall there be any inconvenience for the restaurant. We know how uneasy to run a small shop and how meaningful the chair could be. We did not mean to leave any stains.
The staff refused to take the cleaning fee as a token of our apology and they offered an apology in return. It is too late and the emotional damage has already left in our thoughts.
In hindsight, I’d appreciated if they have told us much earlier that no child under certain were allowed. In contract, careful that they seemed to be a family friendly place….gap in expectation management I guess.
Later I donated NTD3000, supposedly to be the cleaning fee for my apologies but the restaurant refused to take, to a charity foundation that offers to help young parents adapting their lives as new parents, in the name of the restaurant. I hope this pays forward and reminds everyone be kind to one another, especially when parents adapting new lives with a little one joining...
Read moreTucked away on a small alley this unassuming restaurant produces some terrific vegetarian food. The shop has a bit of a historical feel and then decor carries that inside with an eclectic set of kitchen utensils, and other details grouped in batches to give a feeling without over decorating to drive a theme. The kitchen is well staffed and the food is nicely prepared and arrives hot fresh and quick. They specialize in western style dishes, primarily Italian with Asian influences. We tried the mushroom rice and pesto mushroom rice both of which were tasty. With the pesto mixed throughout the rice and mushrooms added on top, the effect was much like a hot and tasty risotto. We added a glass of nicely chilled house white wine which gave a nice nip to smoothness of the rice. Before even finishing eating, I already knew this was a place I would enjoy having another meal at. There was a short wait as a walk in....
Read moreThe food here is very good and freshly made.
However, don't expect staff on 150nt/hour to do anything other than what they're told.
You want garlic added to your dish (they have a whole tray of peeled garlic next to the stove - this is not Buddhist vegetarian)? "Can't change the recipe"
You want penne instead of spaghetti (unusual for "Italian" restaurants in Taiwan, this place actually knows that there's other pasta than spaghetti) for a particular dish? "Can't change the recipe"
However, they did produce an espresso for me though it wasn't on the menu - but delivered it at the start of the meal although we asked for...
