Nothing special if you have been to Japan or if you are Japanese or if you expect to eat good food. The food is not very Japanese inspired and has nothing unique about it. The hospitality is almost non-existent besides someone taking you to your seat for your reservation. The location and environment is suppose to make you feel special especially if you are a tourist but if you have traveled to other parts of Taiwan that also have Japanese style tatami restaurants or if you have been to Japan then you might not find this place to be very unique or as impressive. Awful service, was just asking about the things on the menu, and one of the server literally mocked at me after my friend and I walked out the door. (Right, I was out there taking photos so I heard them laughing really loud). Have no idea what’s the problem with her, it’s seriously impolite and disrespectful. I came here to get away from the hustle and bustle of the streets of Tainan, and thankfully, that's what I got.
The cafe is located in what likely used to be someone's home. They decorate the place to look retro but placing Showa Era knickknacks throughout the cafe. Lots of people use the background for taking pictures so don't feel guilty if you want to whip put your camera too.
The waffles are yummy. We tried the season fruit and matcha one. I was shocked that they gave me a whole passion fruit. I've never seen a real one in person...
