Our visit wasnt great. As a foodie and often eating in michelin eateries, this was not a pleasure.
I often find the service to be a bit pushy in Taiwan but here I didnt even had time to check the Menu, I wouldnt expect that from a Michelin suggested eatery (it doesnt hold a star). This is a minor critique.
The second point was the AC was broken, in my opinion, in this climate u cant open without working AC. They had 1 fan running. Outside was 33C - inside was probably 27/28C. Not nice.
Regarding the food. Papaya salad was nice. Cold tofu noodles were bland, but okay.
Mapo tofu was not spicy, and a bit bland and had weird choices of veggies inside, i would expected more flavor.
The sticks with lion maine and cucumber with curry flavor were totally off, and a weird Combo. Don't order, was also missing char and flavor.
Overall, very disappointed from the food in Combination with not pleasant service and broken AC. Maybe we were just unlucky but this was probably the worst vegetarian food I had...
Read moreA little disappointing for the price. We got the set menu for 2. It came with:
Green papaya salad - very healthy and fresh tasting, but was missing the punch from fish sauce that the nonvegetarian has with nothing to really replace it, so felt very plain. Okonomiyaki - this was really good. Strong seaweed flavor and great texture. Stir-fried "eel" with shiitake - good, but not what I would expect for this price point restaurant - typical 燒香菇 stir fry with thick sauce with the umami and pepper dialed up a little bit. Clay pot salted egg tofu - way too big of a portion and very boring flavor. Leaned too heavily on what tasted like corn flour-based thickening. The menu said 金沙 so I was expecting more like a 熱炒 style dish here. We barely touched this one.
Desserts were two tiny popsicles. Drink was salty lemon soda (good) and honey plum roselle (way too sweet).
Overall good ingredients, but compared with the other vegetarian food we had in Tainan, the flavor just wasn't there for the...
Read moreThis restaurant was overall a wonderful experience, with delicious food with a good flavour balance. We ordered the cucumber & martini, the signature fried tofu, the lions mane skewers, and the yellow curry. The first two dishes were perfect, with perfect flavours and textures. The tofu was soft inside and super crispy on the outside with a delectable sauce, and the cucumber was crisp and tasty. The skewers were perfect taste and texture wise, but were served quite cold, which was not to my liking. The flavour of the yellow curry sauce was great, but the vegetables inside were not cooked properly, all overcooked and in too large chunks, and there was way too many lemongrass pieces that could not be eaten, which made eating it...
